
Join Weatherford, a leading global energy services company, as a Production Automation Technician - Electrician based in Lloydminster, SK. In this dynamic role, you'll provide expert testing, repairs, installation, and commissioning of advanced production automation equipment both in our shop and at customer field locations. You'll serve as the primary technical contact for customers, ensuring optimal performance of variable speed drives, rod pump controllers, pump-off controllers, and other critical oilfield electrical systems while maintaining the highest safety and quality standards.
Roles and Responsibilities
Install, commission, and service production optimization equipment including VSDs, RPCs, POCs, variable speed drives, rod pump controllers, pump-off controllers, flow meters, pump panels, time clocks, and motor controllers in shop and field environments
Oversee electrical installations ensuring full compliance with national, provincial, and local electrical codes
Interpret and work from line drawings, electrical schematics, and technical product literature
Plan, permit, schedule, and execute installation projects while maintaining comprehensive project documentation
Serve as the main on-site point of contact for customers, building strong relationships through professional interaction and integrity
Promote company products and identify additional customer needs and competitive intelligence to support sales efforts
Create detailed service reports documenting all electrical repairs and maintenance activities
Communicate field intelligence and customer requirements to management and sales personnel
Comply with Weatherford Quality Policy, Safety Systems Manual, and all customer safety requirements
Maintain 24/7 on-call availability to meet customer emergency and installation demands
Skills and Education
Required: Red Seal Journeyperson Electrician certification(preferred), will consider Apprentice Electrician
Required: High School Diploma or equivalent
Required: Valid driver's license with good driving record
1-2 years relevant experience in communications, automation, electronics, and/or controls
0-2+ years working knowledge of oilfield electronic control products (installation, set-up, and use)
Technical school or on-the-job training in advanced electronics for oil and gas production automation
Prior experience reading electrical schematics and wiring diagrams
Previous instrumentation experience (asset)
Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Word, Excel)
Strong customer service and communication skills with basic interpersonal and negotiating abilities
Ability to work flexible schedules including long, irregular hours and on-call availability
Physical ability to immediately respond to emergency situations
