Position Summary:
The Center for Health Justice and Bioethics (CHJB) envisions a more ethical world where individuals and communities have equitable capacity for health. We are committed to eliminating health disparities through education and research, and dedicated to creating community engaged, trauma informed, and culturally aware research and programs. The Research Coordinator at the CHJB at Lewis Katz School of Medicine contributes to this by providing coordination of community-based quantitative, qualitative, and normative research activities focused on public and population health ethics. The research coordinator will also be responsible for other center-led program management and evaluation activities.
The Research Coordinator provides project assistance to the Principal Investigator and Research Director in support of various research activities while autonomously managing day-to-day research activities, such as: designing and planning research studies, bibliographic library curation, overseeing general data collection, mixed methods data analysis, sponsor report preparation, manuscript preparation, and ensuring all projects are completed in a timely fashion. The Research Coordinator will develop into an authoritative source on research practices, precedents, theory, and principles of community-based quantitative and qualitative research activities and will interact with teammates, community members, and justice-involved individuals in a culturally humble manner.
Job Details:

Required Education and Experience:
* Bachelor's degree and at least four years of directly related research experience or Master’s Degree and one year of directly related research experience in public health, policy, sociology, anthropology, philosophy, science and technology studies, social work, or related disciplines. An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.
Required Skills and Abilities:
* Excellent communication skills (written and verbal)
* Ability to navigate relationships with people of diverse faiths, gender identities, etc.
* Demonstrated prioritization skills, multi-tasking skills, and organizational skills, along with the ability to be detail-oriented.
* Ability and interest in academic writing
* Demonstrated ability to be self-motivated, adapt to change, effectively manage time and deadlines and work under stressful circumstances
* Proven ability to document programmatic activities
* Excellent interpersonal and organizational skills
* Working knowledge of all applicable computer software (MS Office Suite or equivalent software programs)
* Prior experience in conceptual, normative, or qualitative analysis
Preferred Skills and Abilities:
* Previous experience in community engagement and community-based research
Essential Duties:
Project Management
* Acts as liaison with funding agencies, establishes and complies with research standards, coordinates project requirements and logistics with PI, Research Director, and other stakeholders.
* Establishes policies and procedures and strategic objectives for research practice based on program, funder, and PI needs.
* Develops systems for data collection, data management, and statistical analysis, identifying, implementing and coordinating research goals
* Establishes solid relationships with internal and external contacts in order to: assess funder and program longer-term needs; act as a communication conduit on matters of research and program needs
* Establishes priorities, provides data training and feedback for other CV staff, and ensures all projects are completed in a timely fashion.
* Makes complex decisions within broad guidelines.
Research
* Executes day-to-day research activities including but not limited to literature review, writing protocols, data collection and cleaning, data analysis and reporting, creating databases, literature review, coding qualitative data, writing and editing lay and academic materials.
* Identifies and analyzes complex problems requiring technical knowledge and experience in this discipline of research
* Develop grant applications and research proposals, reports, manuscripts, and presents and publishes research results. Prepares materials for conferences and conducts library research.
* Performs and interprets advanced data analyses using qualitative programs such as NVivo and quantitative programs such as r or STATA
* Develops and applies skills in conceptual and normative analysis.
* Performs other duties as assigned
This position is assigned a hybrid work arrangement (on-campus and remote), the duration of this hybrid work arrangement is at the discretion of Temple University and the Department.
