Modern data warehouse target-state architecture
Role Summary
The technical backbone of the engagement leads the platform evaluation and designs the target-state architecture and Medallion data models.
Key Responsibilities
- Platform evaluation. Define selection criteria and score Fabric, Databricks, and Snowflake objectively.
- Target-state architecture. Design the future-state blueprint: ingestion, storage, modeling, orchestration, networking, security, and governance roles.
- Data modeling. Design logical and physical models across Medallion layers, validated to requirements.
- Governance & observability. Design audit/control, cataloging, lineage, monitoring, and cost-management/chargeback approaches.
- Technical leadership. Set standards, review engineers' work, and own architecture documentation.
Minimum Qualifications (MQ)
- 8+ years in data architecture/engineering, 3+ designing modern cloud data warehouse platforms.
- Deep hands-on experience with at least two of Fabric, Databricks, and Snowflake.
- Proven Medallion / layered lakehouse design and dimensional modeling.
- Strong data governance grounding: cataloging, lineage, access controls, audit.
- Ingestion/transformation patterns for APIs, relational, and file-based sources.
Desired Qualifications (DQ)
- Azure landing-zone and enterprise reference-architecture experience.
- Power BI semantic modeling familiarity.
- Public-sector or transit data experience.
