Belk, Inc. is seeking a Regional HR Business Partner Lead to oversee human resource activities within their assigned stores. The role involves comprehensive onboarding, managing associate relations, ensuring compliance with laws and policies, and supporting talent development initiatives.
Responsibilities:
- Responsible for comprehensive onboarding for exempt roles and HR Lead associates
- Coordinate interview process and job offers in partnership with Area HR Manager
- Ensure that associates receive basic orientation and on-going training to develop skills necessary to be successful in the job
- Resolve all associate relation issues in a timely manner
- Support Belk Associate Engagement process in each location
- Ensure corrective action documents are written appropriately are conducted in a timely manner following the Corrective Action Process
- Follow up on Region’s excel calls as appropriate; conduct investigations when needed
- Support human resources activities at the store level through recruiting, training, on-boarding, coaching, counseling, resolving problems and change management
- Work with business leaders to assess employee potential for future roles and responsibilities to build a talent pipeline for the region
- Provide feedback for talent assessment and performance management process
- Manage and monitor stores to ensure compliance with all State and Federal laws and Belk policies
- Ensure integrity of associate data in Workday
- Support reduction of associate turnover by recommending actions to improve retention and ensuring quality exit interviews are completed
- Embrace, support, and motivate others to embrace change through support of new company initiatives, processes, policies and procedures
- Must demonstrate a strong knowledge of store-based processes

- Serve as a mediator between associates and management under the guidance of the AHRM and VPHR
- Advise management on appropriate disciplinary actions up to and including termination under the guidance of the AHRM and VPHR
- Enforce open door policy
- Provide assistance and guidance on LOA requests and Reasonable accommodation requests based on ADAAA regulations
- Mitigate liabilities
- Produce documentation for EEOC, NRLB, Department of Labor and any state organization charges against the Company
- Internal Communication & Interaction: Corporate Partners, Regional Management, Store leadership and associates
- Scope of responsibility: Stores within the assigned region
- People manager responsibilities, including, but not limited to: hiring decisions, performance management (appraisals/goals/corrective action/coaching/development), training, and/or scheduling
- Special projects and other duties assigned
Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree and/or equivalent years of experience
- 2 or more years of applicable experience
- Excellent strategic planning and consultative skills
- Effective communicator (oral and written)
- Coaching expertise
- Ability to balance long and short-term priorities
- Sound business acumen
- Flexible to adjust to varying expectations
- General knowledge of HR programs, policies and practices
- Must be able to handle confidential information

- Specific Degree: Human Resources, Psychology, Organizational Effectiveness
- Industry experience: 2 years retail experience or more preferred
- 4 or more years of applicable experience
