We are seeking a highly skilled, communication-focused UI Developer / Accessibility Expert to join our digital modernization team. This is a dedicated front-end specialist role focused entirely on user interfaces and web accessibility, rather than a backend or full-stack position.
In this role, you will author clean, semantic user interfaces and scale digital accessibility standards across high-visibility public-facing web applications.

Core Technical Skills (Required)
Candidates must possess 6+ years of hands-on experience in the following areas:
- Semantic UI Engineering: Advanced HTML5, CSS, and SASS for responsive, modern web layouts.
- Accessibility Architecture: Deep mastery of WCAG 2.2 Level AA, ARIA landmarks/attributes, color contrast compliance, keyboard navigation mechanics, and focus management.
- Assistive Technology Testing: Hands-on experience with screen readers (NVDA, JAWS, VoiceOver) and automated auditing tools (axe DevTools, WAVE).
- Framework Integration: Demonstrated experience integrating modular front-end UI assets into Angular and MVC .NET environments.
- Technical Communication: Clear ability to explain front-end concepts and WCAG requirements to both technical peers and non-technical stakeholders.
Preferred Qualifications (A Plus)
- Experience working with established enterprise design systems or wrapper components.
- Direct experience utilizing or extending the U.S. Web Design System (USWDS).
- Foundational understanding of user experience (UX) principles and design workflows.
Core Responsibilities
- Author Frontend Code: Build clean, well-structured, and highly maintainable HTML and CSS/SASS complying with modern web standards.
- Implement Accessibility: Architect digital interfaces from the ground up to ensure services are universally accessible to all citizens.
- Collaborate on Scale: Partner with the Lead UX Architect to apply architectural guidance and technical accessibility standards across enterprise-level initiatives (e.g., global footers, chatbot interfaces).
