Comfort Systems USA (Kentucky), Inc. is a Houston-headquartered company known for delivering innovative packaged modular systems for data centers and other applications. The Product Manager will oversee all phases of data center infrastructure projects, ensuring on-time delivery and budget adherence while acting as the customer advocate.
Responsibilities:
- Aid the Proposal Department in developing solutions and pricing opportunities
- Provide guidance to Sales and Proposal in fine-tuning of the project scope and pre-award budgets
- Develop requirements, division of responsibilities, and other key project definition submittals with the Customer
- Negotiate contract terms and conditions with the Customer
- At the time of project order (and subsequent project kick-off meeting) the Project Manager assumes full Customer interface for engineering, delivery, and manufacturing issues
- The Project Manager will also be utilized in the contract pre-award stage to ensure clear definitions of project scope of work, schedule, and appropriate budget control
- Primary focal point for project written and verbal communication between TAS and the customer
- Work closely with the Master Scheduler in determining the project cradle –to-grave schedule. Track project progress using measurement techniques such as earned value
- Interact with suppliers on all scope, commercial, and schedule issues
- Responsible for orchestrating the internal resources needed for project execution (i.e. Materials Management, Document Control, QA/QC, Fabrication, Engineering, and After Market)
- Responsible for preparation of scope related documents such as a Master Document Lists, Divisions of Responsibility, and project requirements
- Conduct periodic project budget reviews and prepare ETCs/EACs
- Coordinate with the designated Project Engineer equipment selections, and address any ongoing production issues, purchasing, and production control, etc
- Fields all inquiries from the Customer and the Customer’s main EPC contractor and subcontractors (where applicable). Ensure all project deliverables are submitted in accordance with contract requirements
- Coordinate all payment issues, maximizing cash flow positions. Protect against scope creep, and solicit/prepare project changes order requests
- Coordinate with the Service Department in the start-up, commissioning, and training portions of the project
- Expedite project closeout and release of retainage
- Implement a warranty kick-off meeting with the Aftermarket Department
- Any other responsibilities as assigned by TAS
Requirements:
- 5+ years of data center project experience
- 10+ years of construction management
- 10+ years of experience in Project Management with significant level of experience in a packaged equipment type of environment
- Have industrial HVAC, energy service contracting (ESCO), or central refrigeration plant experience
- Gas Turbine power generation experience
- Project cost estimating, project management, construction management, and familiarity with insurance and bonds
- Sound knowledge of business management principles, practices and procedures and strong negotiations skills
- Excellent communication, organizational and time management skill
- Ability to develop solutions to technical and commercial issue, set priorities and work independently
- Build relationships with Customers and stakeholders
- Knowledge and hands-on experience in managing project scope related to data center construction projects including developing project management plans, schedules, staffing plans, budgets (ETC/EACs), identifying and managing risks, ensuring project quality, and managing customers, stakeholders, and vendors
- Strong crossover skills in the areas of HVAC principles, civil/structural/mechanical design, power wiring, and controls architecture, and modular system design and manufacturing
- Proficient in MS Office, MS Project, and database usage
- Familiarity with ANSI, ASME, API, and OSHA Standards
- Bachelor's degree in engineering from an accredited four-year engineering program
- P.C. or PE, or PMP license/certification would be a plus
- 5+ years of experience with internet technology companies is a plus
