Sr. Business Analyst

This Senior IT Business Analyst role puts you at the center of custom application development, working across the full SDLC from requirements and SQL analysis to QA and UAT when needed. You will wear multiple hats, act as a true liaison between teams, and ensure solutions work end-to-end, not just on paper.

 

Job Description

The Senior IT Business Analyst partners with business and technical stakeholders to design, develop, configure, test, and deploy solutions. This role ensures solutions are delivered efficiently and effectively by validating requirements and coordinating efforts across internal teams and external consultants to deliver projects on schedule.

Principal Responsibilities and Duties

• Evaluate business requests to determine feasibility, researching and recommending options that best meet business needs.
• Conduct gap analysis between applications and stated business requirements, collaborating with System Architects and developers to assess project impact.
• Document business requirements, technical requirements, processes, and workflows.
• Compile, analyze, and interpret complex data to identify trends and troubleshoot issues.
• Partner with senior management and key stakeholders to define project scope, objectives, and deliverables aligned with business goals.
• Develop project plans and supporting communication materials to successfully implement solutions.
• Clearly and proactively communicate project expectations to team members and stakeholders.
• Identify, manage, and monitor project dependencies and critical path activities.
• Define acceptance criteria, develop use cases, and perform acceptance testing for product-level enhancements.
• Support Business Analyst team development by recommending best practices and mentoring junior Business Analysts.

 

Required Skills and Abilities

• Advanced ability to translate business needs into effective and viable technical solutions.
• Experience conducting requirements analysis with business stakeholders and translating findings into detailed process flows and functional specifications for development teams.
• Experience with relational databases, preferably Microsoft SQL Server.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office tools, with emphasis on Word, Excel, and Visio.
• Ability to work independently as well as in a collaborative, team-oriented environment.
• Ability to adapt to shifting priorities, timelines, and business demands.

Minimum Education and Experience

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or Business Administration with an emphasis in Management Information Systems, or equivalent work experience.
• 3 to 5 years of direct experience in a Business Analyst or similar role, including full lifecycle process development and execution.
