Sr. Business Analyst (12 weeks part Time)

CBTS is searching for a Part Time Technical Business Analyst to join our team supporting cloud application initiatives. In this role, you will serve as the critical bridge between business stakeholders and technical engineering teams — translating complex business needs into clear, actionable functional and technical specifications for cloud-native and cloud-enabled solutions.

Responsibilities:

• Lead structured requirements elicitation sessions with business stakeholders, product managers, network engineers, and operations teams across mobile telecom functions (BSS/OSS, billing, provisioning, network management)
• Conduct gap analysis between current-state systems and desired future-state cloud solutions, identifying technical and process-level impacts
• Develop and maintain detailed business requirements documents (BRDs), user stories, epics, and acceptance criteria aligned to Agile or SAFe delivery frameworks
• Facilitate workshops, interviews, and working groups to capture requirements for cloud-native application development, migration, and integration projects
• Translate requirements into structured functional specifications
• Author comprehensive Functional Specifications (FS) and Technical Specifications (TS) for cloud applications including APIs, microservices, data pipelines, and integrations with telecom core systems
• Define system behavior, data flows, business rules, error handling, and interface requirements for cloud platforms hosted on AWS, Azure, or GCP
• Develop and maintain data dictionaries, entity-relationship diagrams, process flow diagrams, sequence diagrams, and system architecture documentation
• Collaborate with solution architects and cloud engineers to validate technical feasibility of proposed solutions and document architecture decision records (ADRs)
• Produce and manage traceability matrices linking business requirements to functional specs, technical designs, test cases, and release deliverables
• Document API contracts (OpenAPI/Swagger), integration patterns, and middleware specifications for OSS/BSS system integrations
• Partner with Scrum Masters, Product Owners, and delivery leads to refine and prioritize the product backlog ensuring stories are well-defined and ready for sprint execution
• Support QA teams by reviewing test plans and test cases to ensure alignment with functional and technical specifications; participate in UAT and defect triage
• Actively manage scope, identify dependencies, and proactively flag risks or conflicts between business requirements and technical constraints
• Coordinate with third-party vendors and platform partners (e.g., Ericsson, Nokia, Amdocs, Netcracker) on integration specifications and technical interfaces
• Maintain documentation standards and ensure all artifacts are version-controlled and stored in the designated repository (e.g., Confluence, SharePoint)

Requirements:

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Telecommunications Engineering, or a related technical field
• 5+ years of experience as a Business Analyst or Technical Analyst, with at least 3 years in a telecom or cloud technology environment
• Demonstrated experience authoring functional and technical specifications for cloud-based or SaaS applications
• Experience working within Agile/Scrum or SAFe delivery models
• Strong knowledge of cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, or GCP) including core services: compute, storage, networking, and managed databases
• Familiarity with telecom domain concepts: 4G/5G core networks, OSS/BSS systems, network functions virtualization (NFV), VoLTE, IMS, and MVNO architecture
• Experience with API design documentation standards (REST, SOAP, OpenAPI/Swagger, GraphQL)
• Proficiency with requirements and collaboration tools: JIRA, Confluence, Azure DevOps, or equivalent
• Ability to produce UML diagrams, BPMN process flows, sequence diagrams, and data flow diagrams using tools such as Lucidchart, Visio, or draw.io
• Understanding of cloud-native patterns: microservices, containers (Docker/Kubernetes), CI/CD pipelines, and serverless architectures
• Working knowledge of SQL and ability to interpret data models and database schemas
• Industry certifications: AWS Certified Solutions Architect, Azure Solutions Architect Expert, CBAP (Certified Business Analysis Professional), or IIBA-CCBA
• Experience with telco-specific platforms: Amdocs, Netcracker, Ericsson BSCS, Oracle Communications, or similar BSS/OSS suites
• Experience with data analytics and reporting platforms (e.g., Snowflake, Databricks, Tableau, Power BI) in a telecom context
• Familiarity with DevSecOps practices and cloud security standards (e.g., NIST, CIS Benchmarks, GDPR/CPNI compliance for telco data)
• Experience in network-as-a-service (NaaS), cloud-native network functions (CNFs), or private 5G environments
