Field Equipment Specialist - Covers Midwest/West Central Region

ABOUT THE JOB

 

The Field Equipment Specialist serves as the corporate contact for field locations regarding technical service of custom application equipment and works with vendors to ensure uptime with machinery for the busy seasons. This individual coordinates vendor services programs with locations and serves as the first line of defense direct with the equipment manufacturer on a down machine. This specialist supports locations by training new applicators in the field, trouble-shooting variable rate applications and machine set-ups and calibration, and by providing expertise with GPS-related products and issues, including field data collection software and hardware.

 

WHAT YOUR DAY WILL LOOK LIKE

 

• Visits locations to inspect equipment and improve maintenance costs by overseeing maintenance and cleaning of equipment.
• Makes recommendations and coordinates with vendors about performing preventative maintenance inspections on all equipment under warranty at least once per year.
• Works with vendors to set up operator training to increase awareness of proper operation and maintenance of equipment.
• Works to update Helena's training programs as available resources for employees to earn credits towards applicator certification.
• Works to initiate a training program for Helena in order for us to be used as an available resource to earn credits towards applicator certification.
• Works with locations to solve service problems.
• Sets up and coordinates vendors for service work.
• Serves as the corporate contact for all major service issues.
• Performs technical service work at locations when necessary.
• Promotes VRA, yield monitor and guidance equipment to Helena locations.
• Serves as the key contact for service on existing and new systems.
• Assists locations in customer-related sales and installations.
• Attends vendor meetings and training programs.
• Works to generate long-term business partnerships with equipment manufacturers and vendors.
• Serves as the primary contact for vendors on technical, service and program updates.
• Serves as a member of the equipment advisory council of revolving Branch Managers and corporate leaders to establish and implement company guidelines on suppliers, maintenance, justification and disposal of rolling assets.
• Provides notifications to Branch Manager, Division Manager and Equipment Services Manager prior to all location visits and service calls.
• Follows up on all location visits and service calls with a written call report outlining activities and observations or recommendations.
• Works on special projects as needed.
• Provides excellent customer service to all internal and external customers.
• Other work-related duties as assigned by your leader.
• Reliable and regular attendance is required.
• Follows all company policies and procedures.

 

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE

 

SKILLS & QUALIFICATIONS

 

• Organizational and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to mechanically operate field equipment.
• Ability to set up and calibrate operating systems such as monitors, controllers and guidance systems.
• Computer skills including working knowledge of Microsoft Office are required.
• Traveling by various means up to 50% of the time is required.
• Ability to read, write and speak in English is required.
• Communicating in Spanish is a valuable skill at Helena.
• Valid U.S. driver's license is required and must meet all company requirements to operate a Helena vehicle.

 

Successful completion of a drug test and background check is required for all positions at Helena.

The work environment for this position is that of a typical office environment where the noise level is mostly quiet. This position requires you to use your hands for many different tasks and to talk, hear, walk, stand, and sit. You may be occasionally required to lift or move up to 10 pounds.
