Volunteer Social Media Marketing Specialist

The Center for Free, Fair, and Accountable Democracy is a volunteer organization that provides civic education content and research for American adults. The part-time, unpaid Social Media Marketing Specialist will promote online civic education resources and research, develop strategies to engage audiences with limited resources, and collaborate with a small team.

Responsibilities:

• You will market our online resources for civic education to various adult audiences while also marketing our research to practitioners and potential partners
• A special challenge will be to devise a way to catch and keep the attention of busy people with many competing distractions – who are ambivalent about democracy versus autocracy -- and to do so with a small budget
• To do these things, you will collaborate with a small team, including a market researcher, a educational content creator, and a fundraiser

Requirements:

• B.A. or better in Communications, Digital Marketing, Information Systems, Marketing, Social Media, or similar field
• Substantial and relevant experience with social media marketing for other organizations
• Good verbal and written communication skills
• Familiarity with a variety of social media marketing platforms
• Experience with analytical tools to show monthly progress towards larger audience sizes, returning audience shares, audience engagement, conversions, and other indicators
• Your U.S. location is flexible, although easy access to the Washington, DC area would facilitate in-person consultations
• Familiarity with researching market segmentation and developing market personas
• Experience developing messaging frameworks
• Prior experience in organizations providing civic education or adult education
• Familiarity with IRS and state regulations on soliciting and non-partisan content
