Performs all exams by following and verifying referring providers’ orders
Adheres to established protocols and provides all pertinent patient information utilized by Radiologist for complete dictation
Uses independent judgement and applies learned methodologies according to established policy and procedures for all ultrasound exams
Scanning competencies should include, at a minimum, all patient ages, acuity levels and classes, independently and without quality issues
Performs ultrasound guided procedures and works closely with radiologist or provider
Educates patients and families about procedure and/or treatment to be performed
Demonstrates professional behavior and conduct in all interactions
Fosters teamwork, ensures efficient use of resources and advocates for quality patient outcomes
Performs and evaluates equipment quality control measurements
Performs troubleshooting as needed and notifies appropriate personnel to maintain equipment performance
Maintains a safe environment for patients, personnel, and visitors
Adheres to safety policies
Ensures imaging areas and equipment are in a constant state of 'Ready'
Demonstrates competence in performing prescribed invasive/interventional procedures if applicable and in accordance with established policies
Maintains proficiency and competencies signed off for all studies related to certification(s)
Performs high quality imaging and in accordance with training received
Accountable for the ethical, legal, professional and certification responsibilities related to the practice
Maintains confidentiality of all work information
Assures the efficient operation of workflow in the department through patient triage and prioritization
Monitors and maintains an adequate inventory of supplies and material to ensure uninterrupted services
Requirements
Requires national certification in one area of specialty from the American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonographers (ARDMS), Cardiovascular Credentialing International (CCI) or American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT)
Uncertified new hires who are Registry eligible must obtain certification within 12 months of hire and image with an experienced technologist until they become fully proficient
BLS certification required
Successful completion of education and competencies via a clinical rotation with sign-off
Must also attain physics and body part exam
This position requires clinical knowledge typically achieved by 0-3 years of experience
