Leads the identification and pursuit of strategic business opportunities, mergers, acquisitions, partnerships, alliances, joint ventures, and licensing agreements that fit within the overall corporate strategy, business plan and product portfolio
Manages the business development team in support of these initiatives
Directs the scope, timeline, budget, resources, and milestones for business development projects, while partnering with additional resources (both internal and external) for analytical, financial and strategic support
Builds key business partner relationships, identifies business opportunities, leads the negotiation and closure of business deals, and maintaining extensive knowledge of current market conditions
Develop business development strategies and frameworks to address the needs and opportunities of our markets and customers
Source deals by contacting potential partners, responding to inquiries, and discovering and exploring opportunities
Screen potential business deals by analyzing market strategies, deal requirements, potential, and financials; analyze options, create scenarios, and build and deliver recommendations to senior management
Identify clear next steps and drive progress in the face of ambiguity and unclear ownership; prioritize and balance multiple competing priorities within and across multiple initiatives at the same time
Balance cost, quality, and schedule constraints while escalating issues as needed
Communicate frequently and effectively with all levels of the organization; including corporate strategy team members, project team members (core and extended), functional managers, commercial organization, key opinion leaders, stakeholders, and partners
Deliver effective presentations of analyses, findings, and recommendations to senior management, the Exact Sciences leadership team, and the project teams, creating visual displays of quantitative information
Develop negotiating strategies and positions; propose early integration plans for new ventures in keeping with deal theses; examine risks and potentials; estimate partners' needs and goals
Partner with senior leadership to provide necessary resources to close new business deals by coordinating requirements, developing, and negotiating contracts, and integrating contract requirements with business operations
Effectively manage, support, and guide your team, including, but not limited to delegating tasks and responsibilities, assessing employee performance, and providing helpful feedback and training opportunities
Requirements
Master’s degree or foreign equivalent in Laboratory Medicine, Pathology, Molecular Biology, or related discipline
five (5) years in the job offered or five (5) years of experience in biotechnology equity research, biotechnology corporate development, biotechnology business development, or related
Excel NGS (next generation sequencing) or molecular diagnostics
Expertise in oncology
Oral and written communications and presentations
Negotiating and executing agreements
Evaluating and solving complex business challenges through structured analysis
Developing and implementing complex financial models to evaluate biotechnology business opportunities, forecast revenue and expenses, assess risk, and support strategic decision making
People leadership and experience leading cross-functional teams
Project management and ability to manage complex and material communications and workstreams amongst cross-functional teams
