Outpatient Coder I, HB Coding

Role Overview

• Follows ICD-10-CM Official Guidelines for Coding and Reporting
• Utilizes technical coding expertise to assign ICD-10-CM and/or CPT-4 codes
• Reviews the medical record thoroughly for appropriate diagnoses and procedures
• Interprets health record documentation using knowledge of anatomy, physiology, and clinical disease process
• Resolves specific Chargemaster NCCI or other outpatient edit claim failures

Requirements

• Credentialed by AHIMA or AAPC
• CE requirement of 20-30 CE's every two years
• RHIT, RHIA, CCS or COC credentialed
• 2 years of related work experience in an Acute care setting
• 3 years of undergraduate education or equivalent
