Plan, promote, budget, and facilitate engaging activities and special events.
Develop and manage the monthly campus calendar for IL, AL, and MC residents.
Ensure activities are properly supervised by staff or trained volunteers.
Lead activities as necessary to ensure success and consistency.
Evaluate programming to meet current and future resident needs.
Manage and creatively utilize the campus Theater (movies, educational events, sporting events).
Coordinate transportation for off-site outings and accompany residents on field trips as needed.
Promote and recruit volunteers.
Train, supervise, and recognize volunteers.
Maintain volunteer files including background checks, references, and evaluations.
Work with vendors (entertainers, educators, musicians, spiritual leaders) to enrich programming.
Collaborate with Resident Council and committees to plan and evaluate resident-selected programs.
Serve as Editor-in-Chief of the monthly newsletter.
Coordinate contributions from staff and residents to create an engaging and informative publication.
Supervise and mentor campus activity personnel.
Conduct performance evaluations and administer corrective action when necessary.
Partner with the Director of Nursing to support training and mentoring of Resident Assistants assigned to Memory Care and Care Suites.
Adhere to all company policies and ensure Activities team compliance.
Represent the organization consistent with mission and values.
Maintain positive relationships with residents, families, staff, and community partners.
Other duties as assigned.
Requirements
BA in Gerontology, Human Services, Therapeutic Recreation, Social Services, or Activity Director Certification OR 2+ years of experience working with senior programs.
Minimum of 2 years of activities experience in retirement, assisted living, or long-term care.
Strong creativity in planning engaging programs.
Experience with group leadership and one-on-one resident engagement.
Supervisory experience preferred.
Financial planning and budgeting experience.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook).
Ability to obtain or currently possess a Class C Driver’s License.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
