Paralegal III – Consumer Protection

Role Overview

• Provide legal services to the Consumer Protection Unit (CPU)
• Investigate serious or widespread allegations of consumer deception
• File suit against those who have violated consumer protection and related laws
• Resolve consumer abuses to restore losses and deter future violations
• Issue consumer protection rules or guidance
• Appear before the Vermont Legislature on consumer protection issues
• Comment on federal laws and regulations of interest to Vermont consumers
• Conduct consumer education and work to encourage fair business practices

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree or higher in criminal justice, law, or related legal field AND three (3) or more years of experience performing paralegal duties.
• Six (6) or more years of experience performing paralegal duties.
