Accounts Payable Officer

Role Overview

• Process supplier invoices, ensuring accurate coding and approval in line with company policy.
• Match purchase orders, delivery notes, and invoices (3-way matching).
• Chase invoices that do not have purchase order (PO) references to ensure timely processing.
• Maintain supplier accounts, ensuring statements are reconciled monthly.
• Prepare and process weekly and monthly payment runs (BACS/cheque).
• Handle supplier queries promptly and professionally.
• Send the updated purchase ledger and supporting documents to external accountants on a monthly basis.
• Assist with month-end closing tasks, including accruals and prepayments.
• Ensure compliance with internal controls and financial policies.
• Support the Finance Manager with ad hoc reporting and analysis.
• Maintain organized and up-to-date records for audit and compliance purposes.

Requirements

• Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
• Excellent organizational and time management skills.
• Ability to work to deadlines in a busy finance environment.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Proficient in Microsoft Excel and accounting software (e.g., Sage, Xero, QuickBooks, or SAP).
• Team player with a proactive attitude.
