About this role
Role Overview
Develop and drive merchant acceptance
Identify, engage and activate priority German-speaking merchants to adopt and prioritize Wero
Support the development of new acceptance verticals (public transport, POS activation, mobility, services…)
Be the primary point of contact for merchants through onboarding and activation
Support merchants throughout onboarding & activation
Ensure merchants follow the required onboarding steps and meet PSP-related activation prerequisites
Act as the operational liaison between merchants, acquirers and EPI teams
Guide merchants through Wero implementation, answering functional and technical questions
Represent Wero across the European ecosystem
Participate in key industry events, associations and forums to increase awareness and adoption
Monitor market dynamics and competitive offerings to feed into EPI’s acceptance strategy
Bridge merchant needs with internal teams
Translate merchant feedback into actionable insights for Product, Scheme, Pricing and Membership teams
Ensure acceptance requirements are clearly communicated and prioritized internally
Stay up-to-date on product details to guide merchants effectively
Provide visibility through structured reporting
Maintain an updated pipeline and activity tracking
Synthesize and present merchant progress and market insights to support strategic decisions
Requirements
6+ years of experience in payments, business development or related domains
Strong knowledge of the German payment ecosystem
Experience in payment business development or payment strategy
Background in project and/or product management
Proven ability to drive merchants or partners through onboarding and activation processes
Excellent relationship-building skills with stakeholders across merchants, partners and internal teams
Comfortable operating in a remote‑first, multicultural and fast‑evolving environment
