About this role
Role Overview
Develop and implement state product actions such as rates, rules, underwriting and other product changes or launches in response to state results and monitoring, and/or competitor actions for one or more assigned states.
Conduct state analysis, which could include competitor actions, claim trends, state underwriting results or interrelationships with pricing actions, for the design, development, and assessment of non-rate product changes, underwriting changes, system changes, and distribution channel management actions in support of achieving state financial objectives.
Develop recommendations, create, and conduct formal presentations.
Support required system implementation of state changes including communication, documentation, input to test plans and validation.
Develop communication and training materials as required to support product changes, non-rate product changes and state specific product positioning.
May assist with delivery of training.
Provide strong support and consultation to PI business units for state specific issues.
Adhere to established workflow processes, controls, and best practices.
Ensure state products and business processes are in compliance with state laws and regulations.
Collaborate with compliance and legal experts to develop timely and accurate responses to Department of Insurance (DOI) filing inquiries, surveys, data calls, etc.
Requirements
Three years of experience in underwriting, product development, claims or state product support experience, preferably in personal insurance product lines.
Completion of or matriculation in CPCU, IIA, ARM, CIC or other recognized insurance designations.
Strong knowledge and understanding of Personal Insurance products, underwriting, systems, coverage, distribution channels, compliance, regulatory environment, and insurance financials.
Knowledge of data query tools with the ability to collect data from data marts.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Strong organizational and time management skills with the ability to handle shifting priorities.
Strong critical thinking and analysis skills to comprehend and communicate intent of state product strategies, underwriting strategies, and interrelationships with pricing and coverage.
Bachelor's Degree or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Two years of relevant experience with understanding and knowledge of insurance products.
