Chair meetings of standing or ad-hoc committees on a regular basis.
Assist other MSU staffers as necessary in areas relevant to the Finance portfolio
Ensure minutes and meeting records are taken and submitted to the Executive Assistant and Administrative Service Coordinator within two weeks of meetings
Notify, in writing, members who are within one meeting of losing their committee seat.
Inform committee members of their responsibilities on the committee
Inform committee members of meeting time, location, and where to find relevant information
Maintain strong communication channels with the Vice-President (Finance) and other stakeholders.
Consult with the Vice-President (Finance) on matters relating to their area of responsibility.
Regularly report to the SRA and Vice-President (Finance) with regard to progress and other projects.
Assist the Vice President (Finance) with other projects and duties as assigned.
Participate in transition of successor.
Create agendas for committee meetings.
Maintain contact lists for committee members.
Track and update Sponsorship & Donation, SRA Special Projects and Committee Special Projects budget trackers.
Reach out to Bylaw 9 presidents during the summer to communicate deadlines for budget submission and presentation in fall semester and budget update in winter semester.
Work with the Vice-President (Finance) and the Finance committee to promote and the idea submission period (October-November) and voting period (January-February) for the Student Life Enhancement Fund (SLEF).
Through chairing the Sponsorship & Donations Committee work with the members to review submitted requests for funding, draft recommendations to the Executive Board for approval and track the amount remaining in the budget line.
Review requests submitted for the Student Representative Assembly (SRA) Special Projects Fund, send recommendations to the Vice-President (Finance) for approval, then complete relevant purchase orders, cheque requisitions and track the amount remaining in the line.
Communicate with the other Associate Vice-Presidents regarding the Committee Special Project Fund and help keep track of the amount remaining in the budget line.
Make recommendations to the Vice-President (Finance) for which SRA Special Projects Requests should be approved and have funds allocated towards them.
Present the Finance Committees findings and recommendations regarding the Non-MSU, Non-University Bylaw 9 groups after thoroughly reviewing their finances.
In consultation with the Vice-President (Finance) and Finance Committee decide on a project(s) you would like to complete over the course of your contract.
Make suggestions to the Vice-President (Finance) and/or other relevant parties on recommendations regarding financial proceedings, policies, initiatives and/or campaigns.
Work with the Finance Committee to brainstorm ways to increase engagement with students surrounding the MSU’s Financial Transparency Events, SLEF Campaign and other finance related initiatives.
Create a year plan that outlines the various projects and initiatives you plan to run throughout the year in collaboration with the Finance Committee, Vice-President (Finance) and other relevant stakeholders.

Knowledgeable of parliamentary procedure, MSU Constitution, Finance, and Policies
Understanding of the MSU legislative process and the complexities of policy creation
Strong research and critical thinking skills
Ability to communicate clearly and succinctly and to moderate debate
Ability to effectively chair meetings
Strategic planning abilities
Ability to work both independently and in a team
Ability to carry out research projects from start to finish
