Operational management and coordination: Supports the director in the day-to-day management of the service, coordinates all architectural activities, and ensures overall project planning.
Team leadership, supervision and deliverable quality: Provides team oversight, supports skills development and acts as the primary point of contact.
Service development and continuous improvement: Contributes to service offering development, strategic planning and ongoing improvement.
Representation and interdisciplinary collaboration: Represents the FQM (Quebec Federation of Municipalities) in strategic meetings with municipal leadership or institutional partners, as required.
As a licensed architect, the senior architect provides technical leadership, coordination and strategic support within the architecture team.
Needs analysis, planning and design: Assesses municipal needs, plans interventions and conducts necessary preliminary studies.
Technical assessments, compliance and contract management: Performs building condition assessments, prepares technical requirements for tenders, reviews bid compliance and provides professional opinions.
Municipal support and deliverable quality assurance: Monitors projects closely to ensure adherence to budgets, schedules and technical requirements.
Development of tools, practices and service expertise: Contributes to updating standardized tools, improving practices and strategically developing the architectural service.
Mentoring and collaboration: Acts as a mentor to the team, promotes knowledge transfer and supports a positive, collaborative work environment.
Requirements
Bachelor’s degree in Architecture and membership in the OAQ (Ordre des architectes du Québec).
Minimum of eight years’ experience, ideally in a municipal context or with institutional buildings.
Strong knowledge of architectural laws, codes and standards (CCQ, CNB, LAU, accessibility).
Proficiency in AutoCAD/Revit and comfort with digital collaboration tools.
Solid skills in sustainable design, energy performance and management of public buildings.
Mobilizing leadership, strong communication skills and ability to manage multiple files.
Sound professional judgment, collaborative mindset and experience in team coordination (major asset).
