Role Overview
- Support the mechanical design of transit stations, tunnels, and maintenance facilities, including HVAC and tunnel ventilation systems
- Assist in preparing contract drawings, specifications, and technical documents
- Perform engineering calculations and system modeling under guidance from senior engineers
- Help ensure designs comply with NFPA, ASHRAE, NYC building codes, and other relevant standards
- Collaborate with architects, structural, and electrical engineers to understand integrated design solutions
- Participate in design reviews, QA/QC processes, and learn best practices in mechanical engineering design for transit
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering
- EIT certification required; PE licensure a future goal
- 0–5 years of experience in mechanical design, ideally with HVAC or ventilation systems in buildings or transit facilities
- Basic understanding of mechanical design principles and relevant codes (NFPA, ASHRAE, NYC building codes)
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and technical skills
- Enthusiasm for learning, professional growth, and working in a collaborative team environment
