Handle hull and machinery (H&M) and crew claims, ensuring timely and accurate processing.
Manage large-scale vessel casualties, such as fire, grounding, etc. and cases giving rise to General Average or salvage incidents.
Follow through on claims, identifying responsible third parties, causation investigation and conclude recovery with minimal impact on operations and markets.
Manage H&M, P&I (Protection and Indemnity), and other insurance covers for the company's fleet.
File all claims with relevant insurers promptly and ensure proper coordination with insurers for processing marine claims (hull, cargo, crew, and related P&I claims).
Conclude settlements and recoveries on the best possible terms.
Pursue and follow up on claims recovery from insurers.
Conduct claims and system training as required.
Support the Deputy General Counsel in coordinating claims responses during major incidents and quarterly reporting.
Provide advice to various stakeholders on emerging situations.
Appoint, instruct, and manage lawyers for legal proceedings and major incidents when necessary.
Assist in handling arbitrations, mediations, and litigations, maintaining updated records of all claims and their status.
Requirements
Bachelor's degree in Maritime Law, Maritime Legal Studies, or Marine Insurance preferred
6-8 years of relevant marine insurance and claims experience in claims management with shipowners, ship managers, or P&I Clubs and their correspondents.
Strong knowledge of maritime laws and conventions related to cargo liabilities.
Hands-on individual with excellent communication skills and proven supervisory abilities.
In-depth knowledge of the container liner industry is preferred.
Resilient with a sense of urgency and the ability to work well under demanding timelines.
Proficiency in business applications and IT tools such as SAP, Excel, Microsoft, etc.
