This position reports to the Bureau Chief of Infrastructure and Operations and directs short and long-term planning, research, and activities with broad organizational impact specifically related to enterprise cloud and on-premises servers and associated systems, operating system software, and infrastructure environments.
Identifies training needs, develops individual training plans and cross training strategies, and monitors employees’ progress to ensure they have the knowledge and resources required to perform their duties effectively.
Responsible and accountable for managing budget/dollars/resources (staff, vehicles, computers, cell phones, etc.) of any assigned programs in an efficient and accountable manner.
Responsible for ensuring that assigned program areas have operational procedures and processes which result in accountability and compliance with division and department policies and procedures.
Establishes unit goals and objectives and oversees the development of initiatives and projects in support of the Department’s business needs.
Envisions, plans, and leads projects involving coordination with other technical sections, business area customers, and representatives from other agencies.
Reviews project proposals, work estimates, and schedules, and monitors project progress to ensure that deadlines, standards, and cost targets are met.
Ensures the resolution of technical issues related to enterprise platform products and functions.
Coordinates research, evaluation, and implementation of new products or product improvements to meet business needs.
Responsible for the efficient operation and maintenance of various department infrastructure systems and services which include but are not limited to on-prem and cloud Virtual Server environments, Windows and Unix operating systems, Microsoft 365, Active Directory, Microsoft Azure, GitHub, and enterprise storage (SAN) and backup services.
Coordinates with the Help Desk Section to resolve any problems associated with the identified duties and responsibilities.
Requirements
A high school diploma or its equivalent and nine (9) years of experience in data processing (excluding data entry), two (2) years of which must have been in a supervisory capacity;
Completion of a 720-classroom hour (1 year) program of study from a vocational/technical school or accredited community college in an area of data processing (excluding data entry) and six (6) years of experience in data processing (excluding data entry), two (2) years of which must have been in a supervisory capacity;
A bachelor’s degree (4 years) from an accredited college or university and five (5) years of experience in data processing (excluding data entry), two (2) years of which must have been in a supervisory capacity;
A bachelor’s degree (4 years) from an accredited college or university with a major in one of the computer sciences or management information systems and four (4) years of experience in data processing (excluding data entry), two (2) years of which must have been in a supervisory capacity;
A master’s degree (6 years) from an accredited college or university in one of the computer sciences or management information systems and three (3) years of experience in data processing (excluding data entry), two (2) years of which must have been in a supervisory capacity;
A doctorate from an accredited college or university in one of the computer sciences or management information systems and two (2) years of supervisory experience in data processing (excluding data entry).
