Claims Specialist – Professional Liability

Role Overview

• Manage a large inventory of complex primary and excess professional liability claims across the U.S. and Canada
• Plan and conduct complex claims investigations
• Retain and direct approved consultants
• Maintain cost controls and oversee the work of outside counsel
• Analyze and negotiate claim settlements/reserves
• Authorize payments in accordance with authority limit
• Maintain accurate and detailed claim files
• Assist Underwriting, Marketing, Risk Management, and Loss Prevention with projects
• Perform other duties as assigned

Requirements

• Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration, Risk Management and Insurance, Finance, or a related field or equivalent experience
• Minimum of 9 years of experience in property and casualty claims handling
• Completion of or progress toward a professional designation preferred, such as Associate in Claims (AIC)
• May possess LLM (Master's of Law) or JD (Juris Doctorate) and 2 to 4 years of post-bar experience
• Excellent analytical, negotiation, and problem-solving skills
• Strong knowledge of insurance policies, coverage, and claims handling procedures
• Knowledge of industry laws and regulations
• Strong ability to organize and prioritize caseloads
