Advise leadership on the financial implications of strategic decisions.
Prepare accurate, timely financial reports, including income statements, balance sheets, and cash flow statements.
Ensure compliance with local, provincial, and federal financial regulations and reporting requirements.
Oversee monthly and annual closings, reporting, and variance analysis.
Implement and/or optimize tools and systems to improve financial visibility and efficiency (e.g., project time tracking, financial dashboards).
Manage and review routine operating expenses, payroll, and payments to subcontractors.
Review expense reports.
Perform general bookkeeping and reporting.
Collaborate with project managers and department heads to improve processes and resource allocation.
Manage financial relationships with vendors, subcontractors, and clients.
Requirements
Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or a related field (CPA designation is an asset).
More than 5 years of experience in finance/accounting; experience in a digital agency or professional services firm is strongly preferred.
Good knowledge of taxation in Canada and Quebec (knowledge of U.S. tax is an asset).
Strong proficiency with Google Sheets or similar tools.
Interest in continuous process improvement and exploring tools (e.g., ChatGPT).
Proficiency with accounting software (e.g., Xero, Dex) and project management tools (Redmine, Float, Notion, etc.).
Excellent analytical skills and business acumen.
Collaborative mindset.
Solid understanding of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and financial compliance requirements.
Knowledge of project-based accounting and revenue recognition.
Fluency in English and French (French is a significant asset).
