Tax Investigations Assistant

Role Overview

• Provide administrative and technical support to the Tax Investigations team.
• Assist in managing and progressing HMRC enquiries and investigations from start to finish.
• Draft letters and documentation for HMRC and clients under supervision.
• Gather, review and analyse client records and information to support investigation cases.
• Support the preparation of voluntary disclosures and settlement calculations.
• Maintain accurate and up-to-date case files and internal systems.
• Liaise with clients, HMRC and internal teams in a professional and timely manner.
• Conduct research on tax legislation and HMRC guidance as required.
• Support the wider Tax team with ad-hoc queries and project work.

Requirements

• Experience working in tax across at least two full tax cycles (corporate, personal, or mixed tax).
• Previous experience in a tax investigations, compliance, or dispute resolution role
• A keen interest in tax and investigations work.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Strong attention to detail and analytical thinking.
• The ability to use your initiative
• Ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines.
