About this role
Role Overview
Lead and manage engagements related to FI-specific valuations, including CECL requirements, Mortgage Servicing Rights (MSR), Core Deposit Intangibles, and FHLB advances.
Serve as the primary Subject Matter Expert (SME) for the group’s assurance work, reviewing approximately 30 PCAOB FI client valuations annually to ensure reasonableness for regulatory scrutiny.
Proactively grow the FI consulting practice by maintaining and expanding a personal book of business and client list.
Spearhead the hiring and mentorship of a dedicated team of Managers and Seniors to support the growing FI vertical.
Review third-party valuation reports and provide high-level consultative support to audit teams regarding assumptions and technical modeling.
Provide same-service valuation support to external bank clients undergoing acquisitions or regulatory reviews.
Other duties as assigned within the scope of the practice.
Requirements
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Economics, or a related field.
10+ years of relevant valuation experience, with a focus on Financial Institutions.
Proven experience at a Top 20 or Big 4 accounting firm; must be comfortable with the scrutiny of public company audit reviews.
CPA required and one of the following certification ASA, CFA, ABV is preferred.
Documented track record of business development and an entrepreneurial spirit ("Dying to build a book").
Strong technical background in ASC 805 and the specific valuation requirements unique to financial institutions and bank reporting.
Proven leadership in managing high-performing teams, with a focus on translating technical valuation concepts into clear, actionable coaching for staff.
Executive presence and the ability to stand your ground when defending complex valuation assumptions to internal audit partners, external regulators, and C-suite clients.
