The Principal brings deep Mechanical Engineering experience and relationships in the A/E & Healthcare industry to contribute to the overall strategic and tactical leadership of the Stantec Mechanical Engineering discipline, supporting the Mechanical Engineering practice in Portland and the Pacific Northwest.
This position will lead strategic, complex health sector projects as well as other potential project types, be client facing, responsible for business development, contribute to project delivery standards and work processes, provide quality control, workload forecasting, financial performance accountability and collaboration with other disciplines.
Develop presentation materials and present to clients and at strategic industry events.
Represent the firm through published articles, public speaking engagements and attendance at industry and community events, meetings, and conferences.
Develop project proposals.
Ensure compliance with best practices, including Stantec PM Frameworks Project Involvement.
Work with PM's and SME’s on key projects to develop and deliver client drawings, specifications, presentations, reports, and other deliverables.
Successfully manage projects of significant scope, complexity and revenue budget.
Requirements
Experience successfully delivering Mechanical Engineering consulting to Architects and Owners in diverse markets including healthcare, commercial, data center, higher education, life sciences, civic and government.
Training and professional experience in project management.
Client consulting experience in a consulting engineering environment.
Proven track record of hiring, developing, managing, and retaining top talent.
Successful history of collaboration and teaming with contractors on Design-Build projects.
Experience in identifying and managing items of risk that may occur on projects.
Ability to identify and manage potential unanticipated scope.
Passion to integrate design elements with other disciplines to deliver a coordinated design.
Dedication to apply sustainable design principles within projects while maintaining the process driven requirements of healthcare facilities.
Familiarity with various construction delivery processes such as Design assist, Design-Build and IPD.
This position will report to and be required to work within the Seattle, Washington offices five days a week to start for onboarding. Presence in Portland, OR office is required a minimum of three days per week after onboarding.
Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering
15+ years related professional experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience and/or demonstrated skills.
Professional Engineering license required.
Project Management Professional certification a plus.
LEED AP Credential a plus as well.
Must have valid Driver’s License and clean MVR
