Belcan is a company seeking a remote Mechanical Design Engineer to support the design, development, and production of internal gas turbine components. The role involves taking ownership of hardware definition, delivering 3D models and drawings, and collaborating with various teams to ensure quality and technical acceptance.
Responsibilities:
- Designers will support the design, development, and production of internal gas turbine components, including compressors, cases, combustion hardware, turbine hardware, and other propulsion components/assemblies used in jet and/or rocket engines
- Leveraging NX and Teamcenter, designers will take full ownership of hardware definition from concept through release, delivering 3D models and drawings that support further analysis, manufacturing, assembly, and hardware testing
- Responsibilities include addressing complex thermal, structural, and component packaging challenges to enable the design of producible and requirement meeting hardware
- Additional responsibilities include driving process and productivity improvements for both new and existing hardware
- Designers will collaborate closely with propulsion, systems, manufacturing, and quality teams to ensure configuration control, technical acceptance, schedule alignment, and consistent quality
Requirements:
- Bachelor of Science degree in an engineering field from an accredited institution
- 5+ years of experience designing gas turbine componentry
- Experience designing turbomachinery hardware and gas turbine componentry for flight and ground test purposes
- Candidate must have Siemens NX CAD modeling and drafting experience
- Candidate must have excellent mechanical aptitude skills
- Candidate must be able to excel in a fast moving manufacturing and assembly environment
- Candidate must have excellent interpersonal and communication skills
- Legal authorization to work in the U.S. as a U.S. citizen
- Proficient in using stackup analysis to determine component tolerances and also verify assembly fitment
- Experience designing additively manufactured components
- Experience designing tooling and support equipment
- Knowledge of large mechanical systems, assembly and disassembly processes, manufacturing, and instrumentation
- Experience reviewing engineering prints
- Experience creating and/or reviewing Ansys structural analysis packages
- Familiarity with the operation of gas turbines and/or other propulsion system types
