Operating as the key day-to-day contact for, and maintaining great working relationships with, opposite numbers in clients’ in house teams
Proactively generating opportunities for clients to raise their profile through the media, including the national press, television and radio
Building strong relationships with journalists and acting as our clients’ eyes and ears, providing them insight and intelligence on the news agenda and media landscape
Crafting excellent copy across a variety of formats including press releases, blogs and social content
Maintaining oversight of work in progress on accounts and anticipating client needs
Providing client teams strategic input and creative ideas, including through brainstorms, workshops and strategy sessions
Proposing and developing new ideas to improve the quality of client service and results
Ensuring continual programme delivery against objectives and providing timely and thorough reporting of activities and results to clients
Reporting regularly to an Account Manager or Account Director and alert him/her to issues in a timely fashion
Contributing to the growth of the agency and new business results through help with lead generation and assisting in the development of presentations, proposals and marketing materials
Requirements
Minimum of 18 months’ PR agency, in-house comms or journalism experience and demonstratable passion for the news and current affairs
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with an ability to inspire confidence from clients and colleagues
Ability to thrive under pressure and deliver against tight ‘newsroom’ deadlines
Proven track record of successfully implementing a variety of creative and effective public relations initiatives that have generated measurable results
Strong writing skill across both long form and short form content
An understanding of digital communications and social platforms including Twitter, LinkedIn, Instagram
An eye for detail, ability to swiftly absorb technical detail and confidence using data and complex information to tell stories
Commercial awareness and an appreciation for the role that communications and marketing activity plays in driving business performance
