Organise questionnaire structure and questions drafting so they are clear and make sense for end users.
Produce clear, structured markup in line with the department's standard markup format, defining what needs to be automated, how variables should behave, and what conditions apply to each provision.
Handle complex practice areas with precision, ensuring that nuanced legal provisions are correctly represented in the markup.
Identify and flag ambiguities in client-provided drafts before markup is handed to Template Developers.
Collaborate closely with QA team and with Customer Success Delivery & Automation Lead.
Follow and maintain the standard markup format to ensure consistency across all templates and team members.
Contribute to the development and refinement of markup standards as new document types, client requirements, or automation capabilities emerge.
Ensure that markup is comprehensive enough that Template Developers can implement it without requiring frequent clarifications.
Embrace AI tools where they create genuine efficiency gains, always with a mindset of responsible use, client privacy, and data security.
Participate in calls with clients to discuss automation projects, walk through source documents, and clarify requirements before markup begins.
Ask the right questions to uncover intent behind legal provisions, especially where drafts are ambiguous, incomplete, or rely on unstated assumptions.
Build rapport with client legal teams, acting as a credible legal peer who understands both the document and its automation context.
Document outcomes from client calls clearly and translate them into actionable markup annotations.
Work closely with CS/Sales to understand client intent and clarify requirements where the source draft is incomplete or ambiguous.
Liaise with Template Developers as needed to clarify markup intent during the automation phase.
Support the QA team by acting as the reference point for markup interpretation when queries arise.
Review and update markup for templates already in production that require changes or improvements.
Maintain version-controlled markup records to support traceability and audit.
Requirements
Qualified solicitor, paralegal background, or equivalent legal professional, with experience drafting or reviewing legal documents.
Strong knowledge of at least one practice area (e.g. corporate, real estate, employment, finance, or commercial contracts).
Ability to interpret complex legal provisions and translate them into structured, logic-driven annotations.
High attention to detail, able to identify inconsistencies, ambiguities, or gaps in source drafts.
Strong written communication skills, with the ability to produce precise, unambiguous instructions for non-legal colleagues.
Confident on client calls, able to lead structured conversations with legal professionals to extract requirements and resolve ambiguities.
Comfortable working in a structured, process-driven environment with defined markup conventions.
