Monitor daily media coverage (print, online, broadcast) and social media channels for relevant mentions
Compile and share daily media summaries and urgent issue alerts
Track emerging trends, issues, and public sentiment related to education and early childhood development
Assist in planning and scheduling content across departmental social media platforms
Draft posts aligned with departmental priorities and campaigns
Monitor engagement and respond to comments or inquiries as directed
Support basic analytics tracking and performance reporting
Assist with planning and coordination of key departmental events (e.g., back-to-school, Education Week, announcements)
Prepare materials such as briefing notes, social media content, and event logistics lists
Support on-site or virtual event delivery, as needed
Provide administrative and communications support to the team
Assist with updating content on internal and external platforms
Support records management and organization of communications materials
Perform other related duties, as required
Requirements
Completion of a post-secondary program in Communications, Public Relations, Journalism, Marketing, or a related field (or an equivalent combination of training and experience)
Strong written and verbal communication skills
Good attention to detail and ability to summarize information clearly
Strong organizational and time management skills
Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment
Sound judgment and ability to handle sensitive or confidential information
Experience using Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
Familiarity with social media platforms (e.g., Facebook, X, Instagram, LinkedIn)
