Reddit, Inc. is a community-driven platform that facilitates open and authentic conversations among users. The Staff Frontend Software Engineer will ideate, design, build, and scale products within the Reddit Answers product space, focusing on the web platform to enhance user experiences and drive product vision.
Responsibilities:
- Ideate, design, build, and ship experiments and features that reach millions of users and advance our product vision
- Collaborate closely with product managers and designers to create compelling, user-focused experiences, and communicate effectively across teams and disciplines
- Shape team strategy by contributing meaningful insights and helping to drive alignment toward shared objectives
- Engage actively in product reviews and team discussions, offering technical perspective while helping to scope, estimate, and prioritize competing needs
- Foster a strong engineering culture by mentoring, collaborating with peers, and helping set a high standard for quality and UX
Requirements:
- 5+ years experience in web application development using JavaScript or other relevant languages
- Experience with common front-end web component frameworks (such as React), and server-side rendering frameworks (such as Next.js)
- Strong understanding of JavaScript fundamentals, web performance
- Have a strong product sense, and be comfortable translating data and user feedback into features
- Experience in other more general purpose programming languages (e.g. Python, Go)
- Familiar with software engineering best practices such as unit testing and code reviews, design, and documentation
- Understanding customer needs and translating them into product features is a plus
