AVI-SPL is a digital enablement solutions provider transforming how people and technology connect. The Senior Project Engineer in the Experience Technology Group will provide post-sales support for immersive projects, coordinating technical details and troubleshooting during installations while mentoring junior engineers.
Responsibilities:
- Provide technical oversight of a project from award through installation and completion, including creative technology engineering details and system configuration coordination for XTG and their partners
- Review the preliminary design documents including Scope of Work (SOW) and contract to validate quality, completeness, feasibility, and identify technical or logistical challenges
- Address concerns with team during kickoff meetings and correct initial-design gaps
- Identify, address, and plan mitigation of technical or logistical impediments to delivering scope of work
- Perform peer-review, refinement and development of required engineering documents working with CAD Team (e.g. infrastructure drawings/floor plans, ceiling plans, equipment placement, riser diagrams, elevations)
- Review cable pull sheets and network coordination
- Review calculations including heat and power calculations, and structural needs
- Finalize the Bill of Materials by auditing and approving line items once the design is complete
- Provide Delivering Region's Project Manager with engineering documents required for submittal packages
- Work with Delivering Region's Operations to monitor project budgets and identify personnel needs for installation
- Provide technical updates to the Delivering Region's Project Manager regarding project progress and challenges
- Review technical closeout documentation including "as-built" drawings and programming files
- Assist with project handoffs to the installation team through carefully crafted documentation
- Collaborate with the commissioning and programming team creating checklists, commissioning guides, and field documentation
- Aid in troubleshooting and resolution of technical issues during the installation and commissioning phases
- Review final drawings with red-line revisions and request “as-built” development
- Travel to job sites to support installation teams acting as the senior technical resource when required
- Lead/oversee commissioning efforts for high-profile installations, ensuring seamless integration of systems and providing advanced troubleshooting for unique or custom setups
- Serve as the final technical authority resolving issues escalated that cannot be addressed by junior engineers in the region. Take ownership in customer-facing escalation resolutions
- Work with operational leadership identifying and addressing inefficiencies, training gaps and standards development
- Regularly review the work of delivering regions project engineers providing structured feedback and guidance on adhering to our playbook, quality, and design standards
- Meet with current/prospective vendors to help evaluate products and learn about new creative technologies
- Perform additional tasks, responsibilities, and projects as needed to support the team and organization, ensuring flexibility in adapting to evolving priorities and objectives

- Advanced computer skills for designing, configuring, and operating AV equipment
- Proficiency with test and calibration methodologies for AV systems
- Extensive experience with DSP programming including the ability to lead configuration efforts
- Foundational AV control programming knowledge ability to use debugger and troubleshooting of code from any of AMX, Crestron, Extron, or Q-SYS
- Ability to create and use a test plan reporting the nature of any issues
- AVIXIA CTS-I Certification
- AVIXA ANP (Audio-Visual Network Professional) Certification (Cisco CCNA or similar may be considered in lieu of ANP)
- Formal education in Electronics, Engineering, or a related field
- Seven (7) or more total years of experience in AV system design, integration, or field support
- Familiarity with AV/IT standards and emerging technologies such as AVoIP or unified communications platforms (e.g., Microsoft Team, Zoom, Webex)
- Strong understanding of IP networking – Any specific certifications or training is a plus
- Four (4) or more relevant audio/DSP certifications (Biamp, Q-SYS, BSS, Extron, Shure, etc.)
- Advanced Intelligent Camera System certification(s) (e.g. Crestron, Q-SYS)
