SOVRA is a leading public procurement platform trusted by government agencies and suppliers across North America. The Business Data Analyst role is critical for driving data-driven insights in the govtech sector, managing transactions, and optimizing operational effectiveness.
Responsibilities:
- Maintain and optimize existing databases, dashboards, and forecast models using operational data
- Analyze contract portfolio data from SOVRA solutions and client platforms to support operations
- Transform unstructured data from multiple sources into structured, meaningful insights using advanced analytical techniques
- Identify inefficiencies in current workflows and convert ad hoc requests into scalable, repeatable processes with a primary focus on using AI-first principles
- Develop and maintain automated data pipelines, reconciliations, and calculations
- Continuously simplify and optimize data structures for improved clarity and performance
- Build automated reporting solutions that evolve with business requirements and customer needs
- Extract and transform large datasets using SQL, Power Query, AI or similar tools to identify high-value operational priorities
- Translate complex analytical findings into clear narratives for both technical and non-technical audiences
- Support strategic sourcing, procurement benchmarking, and special analytical mandates
- Support the senior data business analyst with day-to-day functions like preparing data for annual/quarterly audits and board meetings
- Provide ad hoc insights, recommendations, and strategic guidance based on exploratory analysis
- Build relationships across organizational levels to drive data-informed decision-making
Requirements:
- University degree in mathematics, finance, economics, business, actuarial science, or related field
- 5–7 years of experience in a data analyst role
- Advanced proficiency in Excel and BI reporting tools (Jaspersoft, Power BI, etc.)
- Strong understanding of procurement operations and business processes
- Proven ability to work with unstructured data and transform it into structured, actionable insights
- Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills
- Strong verbal and written communication skills for diverse audiences
- Experience with Power Query, SQL Server, and other data/modeling platforms

- MBA, CPA, SOA exams, or other relevant certifications
- Familiarity with data science concepts and methodologies
- Direct experience in the procurement industry
