As a Senior Mechanical Engineer in the Energy department, you will lead technical projects, mentor team members, and interface with clients while promoting sustainable practices in mechanical engineering.
Responsibilities:
- Serve as a technical lead mechanical engineer. Lead the quality review process of work products developed by others, and lead a team of mechanical designers, mechanical engineers, and coordinate the work of other discipline engineers and sub-consultants into the final design deliverables
- Serve as a mentor, developing the technical skills of others
- Act as the client interface representing the mechanical discipline and lead other disciplines during a design program. Act as the project manager on small to mid-scale projects
- Interact with the client at the request for proposal stage, develop letter proposals and fee estimates, prepare, deliver presentations, and act as the Ramboll representative throughout project duration
- Understand and grow the energy practice by promoting Ramboll’s capabilities to clients and building relationships within the marketplace. This includes participation in relevant professional affiliations to stay current with emerging technologies and business practices
- Provide support for construction projects, including cost estimating, construction phasing/scheduling, site inspections, punch list development, and shop drawing review
- Demonstrate a clear understanding of industry codes and standards and develop code analysis reports. Preferred code knowledge includes NFPA, ASME, ANSI Standards, energy code, and building code
- Lead the engineering of thermal distribution systems (HP/LP steam, HTHW/HW/CHW hydronic) installed as direct-buried, utility tunnels, and box tunnel arrangements
- Develop detailed designs of central heating and cooling plant systems including boilers, chillers, pumps, controls, and related ancillary systems
- Prepare technical reports to define projects and provide clients with technical direction
Requirements:
- B.S. / B.E. (or higher) in Mechanical, Marine, or Facilities Engineering
- 10+ years relevant work experience
- 2+ years' experience leading a team of design professionals in a consulting engineering
- Engaged in ongoing learning to maintain knowledge of contemporary issues
- PE license preferred
