The primary responsibility of the bartender apprentice is to provide prompt, courteous service to restaurant patrons. The bartender apprentice is responsible for ensuring the guests are satisfied with their dining experience by keeping the bar clean and stocked, and to engage the guests in a professional and genuine manner. The bartender apprentice is responsible for maintaining a genuine, cheerful demeanor.
- Arriving at work on time, fully dressed, clean, and prepared with all of the proper work cards, credentials and uniform.
- Preparing the bar area for daily service and alerting management of any maintenance issues or missing product.
- Performing all opening, closing and side duties required of a bartender apprentice.
- Greets guests using the 10’/5’ rule and engaging guests in cheerful, genuine conversation.
- Maintaining the cleanliness of the bar before, during, and after the shift.
- Make sure all areas are clean and free of debris.
- Maintain bar seats throughout service, clearing dishes between parties as necessary.
- Stock all side stations with condiments and supplies.
- Continuous disposal of trash and waste in the restaurant to the proper receptacle.
- Engage with guests professionally and genuinely by maintaining a cheerful conversation and delivering the service that is required of them.
- Depart the restaurant on time and having completed all the designated functions for the day.
- Assist the bartender in any way needed to provide excellent guest service.
- Water refills as necessary.
- Assistance in non-alcoholic beverage service.
- Understand and execute artisanal coffee beverage program.
- Providing top-box guest service and assisting the guest in any request that is asked of them in regard to food and non-alcoholic beverage service.
- Requires 1 year of prior bartender apprentice experience.
- Must possess a valid SNHD health card.
- Common knowledge of safe food handling and sanitation practices preferred.
- Work requires effective communication in English, both verbal and written form in a professional manner.
- Must present a neat and professional appearance.
- Work requires professional interactions with customers, co-workers, and management.
- Work requires professional teamwork with other co-workers.
- Work requires schedule flexibility which may include nights, weekends, holidays, and overtime as needed.
- Fast paced, high volume environment involving constant public. Requires standing, walking, and lifting a maximum of 50lbs. repeatedly. Shifts may vary based on business needs. Must be able to tolerate secondary tobacco smoke.
