Job Description
* Applications are accepted electronically ONLY at www.cu.edu/cu-careers *
The research program focuses on developing advanced optical nanoprobes to improve cancer detection and image-guided surgery for pancreatic ductal adenocarcinoma (PDAC). Our laboratory develops biocompatible, near-infrared (NIR) chemiluminescent chitosan-based nanoparticles (CNPs). By combining synthetic chemistry with in vivo optical imaging and orthotopic mouse models, we aim to accurately locate deep cancerous tissues and metastatic lymph nodes, ultimately enhancing intraoperative techniques and patient outcomes.
This collaborative position directly supports our research on dual-mode chemiluminescence and fluorescence (CL/FL) imaging for guided surgery. The researcher will work extensively with orthotopic PDAC mouse models, performing cancer cell inoculation, intravenous injections, and real-time whole-body imaging using IVIS. Core duties also include conducting biodistribution and toxicity studies, ex vivo tissue imaging, and microscopic analysis using confocal laser scanning microscopy. The candidate will actively assist in data analysis to quantify nanoparticle targeting efficacy.
