Misfits Market is a mission-driven startup focused on reducing food waste by providing affordable, sustainable groceries. They are seeking an Engineering Manager to lead the Business Operations team, responsible for building and maintaining operational systems and third-party integrations.
Responsibilities:
- Lead and manage a team of engineers responsible for operational systems and third-party integrations
- Partner closely with stakeholders across operations, finance, supply chain, and external partners to define priorities and deliver scalable solutions
- Drive execution across complex initiatives involving internal systems, vendor platforms, and real-time operational workflows
- Support engineers in designing scalable, maintainable, and reliable backend systems
- Ensure high standards for code quality, testing, and operational readiness
- Manage technical risk across integrations, data pipelines, and vendor dependencies
- Balance urgent operational needs with longer-term platform stability and maintainability
- Provide coaching, feedback, and career development support to engineers
- Communicate timelines, risks, and trade-offs clearly to stakeholders
Requirements:
- 6+ years of software engineering experience, with strong experience in backend systems or distributed platforms
- 4+ years of engineering management or technical leadership experience
- Experience working on operational systems such as warehouse management, payments, ERP, supply chain, or other internal business platforms
- Experience integrating with third-party vendors or external systems
- Strong prioritization skills and comfort operating in environments with multiple stakeholders and operational urgency
- Experience leading teams responsible for business-critical systems that require high reliability and performance
- Strong communication skills and the ability to work effectively with both technical and non-technical stakeholders
- Passion for building strong teams and improving internal systems that drive measurable business impact
- Experience in logistics, supply chain, e-commerce operations, or other operationally intensive environments is strongly preferred
