Position Summary
Kingfisher Heliskiing seeks a Heli-Ski Operations Manager to lead our guide team and ski program. This role requires a certified Ski or Mountain guide with exceptional leadership, teamwork, and risk management skills. The ideal candidate is an IFMGA Mountain Guide with experience in diverse geographic regions, at least 10 years in the heli-ski industry, and 5 or more years as a Lead Guide or Supervisor. The position requires Revelstoke residency from mid-October through mid-April, with remote work possible for the remainder of the year. This position offers an exceptional opportunity to lead a world-class heli-ski operation in one of the world's premier mountain destinations while contributing to a global hospitality company committed to safety, excellence, and guest satisfaction. This is a full-time year round position earning an annual salary in the range of $100,000 - 120,000, depending on experience and qualifications.
Position Purpose
The Heli-Ski Operations Manager (OM) serves as the overall leader of the Kingfisher heli-ski program. This role owns and nurtures the company culture of safety, teamwork, and guest service. The OM works with the Eleven Ski Operations Manager to develop strategic priorities and facilitate alignment with global heli-ski programs, and with the Eleven Revelstoke Lodge Manager to ensure seamless transitions between the heli-ski and lodge experiences. The OM is the primary point of contact for external vendors and service providers.
Responsibilities/Duties/Functions/Tasks
Operations Management
- Heli-ski program operational risk management
- Seasonal guide staffing and scheduling
- Aviation program oversight, tracking, and scheduling
- Daily and seasonal record keeping and reporting
- Fueling infrastructure management
- Equipment inventory management
Team Leadership & Development
- Planning and management of annual training and ongoing professional development.
- Supervising Guide responsibilities per industry guidelines and internal standards.
- Guide feedback and review process oversight and documentation
- Professional mentoring and training
Guest Experience & Quality Assurance
- Program guest satisfaction and experience quality assurance
- Support effective collaboration with hospitality and culinary programs.
- Ensure seamless integration between heli-ski and lodge experiences
Strategic Planning & External Relations
- Annual budgeting and capital expenditure proposals
- Collaboration with Eleven Ski Operations Manager on strategic priorities
- Collaborative management of external relationships including:
- First Nations
- Province of British Columbia
- HeliCat Canada
- Aviation Providers
- Coordinate and delegate execution of responsibilities with additional managers and staff
Off-Season Focus
- Manage all tenure annual reporting requirements
- Manage the procurement and maintenance of tenure Occupational Licenses
- Plan and manage the tenure run development program
- Manage all heli ski equipment inventory, inspection, and maintenance
- Manage the permitting of fuel caches on BC MOF lands
- Manage the inspection and maintenance of fuel and rescue caches
- Manage the BC Wildfire Fuel Sales program
- Collaborate with the General Manager to:
- Maintain regular weekday availability and coordinate any remote work scheduling
- Negotiate fuel cache contracts
- Propose and support summer and shoulder season activities outside of heli-skiing
- Propose initiatives to strengthen the company’s relationship with indigenous nations
- Support marketing with content creation and proofing
- Collaborate with the Ski Operations Manager to:
- Propose labor budgets
- Propose capital expenditures
- Update and develop tenure documentation including but not limited to Tenure Management Plans and Joint Use Agreements
- Negotiate aviation contracts
- Compile and evaluate operational data
- Ongoing development and documentation of program Standard Operating Procedures
- Ongoing development of other program documentation including the Run Atlas, Mountain Operations Manual, Snow Safety Plan, and training materials
- Execute additional seasonal and annual responsibilities as defined in the Manager SOPs
Qualifications
Certifications & Training
- IFMGA Mountain Guide, ACMG Ski Guide, or equivalent
- CAA Avalanche Operations Level 2 or equivalent
- Current 80-hour first aid certificate
Experience and Skills
- Minimum 10 years heli-ski experience
- High-level operational risk management skills
- High-level operational weather and avalanche forecasting skills

Work Requirements
