The Head of Marketing is a strategic, data-driven executive who will lead branding, product marketing, demand generation and integrated marketing efforts across retail distribution channels. This leader will build and execute the marketing strategy that drives agent and advisor adoption, consumer awareness, lead generation, product positioning and sales growth. This is a hands on leadership role that partners closely with distribution, product, national accounts, sales enablement and digital teams.
REPORTING
This role reports to the Rona Guymon, President, Retail, Life & Annuities.
LOCATION
The preferred location for this position is Austin, TX or New York, NY. Relocation is not required if there is willingness to travel to the Austin and New York offices as needed.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
• A visionary, the Head of Marketing will define and own the brand strategy and messaging that differentiates the company in the life & annuity market and scales across retail channels.
• Build and lead a high-performing marketing organization covering brand, digital/ecommerce, direct-to-consumer, partner marketing, content, creative, analytics and agency relationships.
• Design and execute an integrated demand generation plan (digital acquisition, direct mail, events, advisor/agent programs, field marketing) that delivers scalable, cost-efficient leads and pipeline for sales channels.
• Partner with distribution and national accounts to develop co marketing programs, sales enablement tools, and customized campaigns for broker dealers, RIAs, banks and independent agents.
• Lead go to market launches for new products and distribution initiatives — positioning, creative, pricing communications, and field training.
• Use customer, channel and market research (surveys, focus groups, attribution analysis) to validate concepts and optimize campaigns.
• Set and manage marketing budgets, vendor contracts and agency partners to maximize ROI and ensure brand consistency.
• Define and track KPIs (lead metrics, CAC, LTV, channel performance, brand awareness, conversion rates), deliver regular reporting, and iterate tactics based on performance.
• Serve as a senior cross functional partner to Product, Sales, National Accounts, Legal and Compliance to align timing, messaging, and compliance.
KEY QUALIFICATIONS
• 10+ years in integrated marketing, with demonstrable experience in financial services, insurance, or complex regulated products; agency or startup experience is a plus.
• Proven success building and scaling marketing programs for retail distribution or advisor channels (broker dealer, RIA, bank distribution, independent agents).
• Deep expertise in digital acquisition, direct mail, partner marketing, and field/agent enablement.
• Product marketing expertise with the ability to tell the story that enables sales.
• Strong analytical orientation — comfortable with data, attribution models and setting KPIs.
• Experience managing creative and analytics teams and budgets with external agencies and large vendor relationships.
• Exceptional communicator and collaborator who can influence senior leaders and field partners.
• Bachelor’s degree required; MBA or advanced degree preferred.
