As a Delivery Manager, you are accountable for end-to-end delivery for two to three cross-functional Scrum or Kanban teams. You own the agile process, orchestrate releases, and use data driven insights to improve predictability, quality, and stakeholder confidence. You partner closely with Product Managers and Tech Leads to ensure the team is always working on the most important, well-understood work, and that risks, dependencies, and blockers are actively managed.
Facilitate core Agile ceremonies and ways of working
- Facilitate all core Agile ceremonies (Sprint Planning, Daily Standups, Reviews, Retrospectives).
- Ensure followthrough on action items and support implementing Kanban where appropriate.
- Maintain healthy rhythms and guardrails so the team can deliver predictably.
Partner in capacity planning and resource alignment
- Partner with Product and Tech Leads to plan capacity based on demand, known constraints, and time off.
- Ensure capacity and commitments are aligned and explicitly understood by the team and stakeholders.
Lead consistent release orchestration
- Own or coown release orchestration activities: bug triage, release prep calls, scope tracking, and readiness checks.
- Coordinate feature flags and environments and monitor release progress and outcomes.
- Participate in or drive release management activities as needed, including deployments for services.
Collaborate with Product on backlog and planning
- Partner with Product Managers to maintain a wellgroomed backlog with clear user stories and acceptance criteria.
- Proactively prepare for refinement sessions, unblock tickets before they are discussed, and support breakdown and prioritization.
- Ensure planning (sprints, releases) reflects known dependencies and constraints.
Collaborate with Tech Leads and Product on alignment & focus
- Work closely with Tech Leads and Product to align the team’s work to product strategy and priorities.
- Shield the team from distractions and scope churn where possible.
- Ensure the team has clear technical and product context for what they are building and why.
Flow, Predictability & Metrics
Enforce healthy workflow and WIP discipline
- Encourage “finish before starting” behavior and limit work in progress (WIP).
- Push back on overcommitment, excessive inprogress work, or scope changes that threaten predictability.
Monitor commitments and delivery against timelines
- Monitor sprint and release commitments and ensure the team delivers incremental value within agreed timeframes.
- Flag timeline risks early with clear options, tradeoffs, and impact to stakeholders.
Track and analyze team performance metrics
- Use Jira and dashboards to track velocity, throughput, cycle time, defect trends, and other key metrics.
- Use data to forecast, set realistic commitments, and drive datainformed improvements in speed and quality.
- Regularly review metrics with the team to identify bottlenecks and improvement opportunities.
Use retrospectives and data to drive continuous improvement
- Facilitate effective retrospectives focused on outcomes, not just discussion.
- Turn insights into concrete experiments and process changes that streamline delivery, reduce waste, and improve quality.
- Follow through on agreed action items and inspect their impact in future cycles.
Risk, Dependencies & Issue Management
Actively manage risks, dependencies, and blockers
- Proactively identify and document risks, dependencies, and blockers.
- Drive resolution endtoend, including escalating technical issues appropriately and owning followups to closure.
- Coordinate crossteam dependencies with clear owners, timelines, and mitigation paths; reduce reliance on others to stitch plans together.
Communication & Stakeholder Management
Provide clear, timely, metricdriven communication
- Maintain proactive, timely communication to stakeholders and leadership on status, risks, issues, decisions, and changes.
- Provide concise, metricdriven updates at a predictable cadence, tailored to the audience (e.g., Product, Engineering leadership, business stakeholders).
- Clearly articulate asks, tradeoffs, and impact when raising issues.
Collaborate across Delivery Management
- Work with other Delivery Managers to share best practices and align on standard ways of working.
- Contribute to improving orgwide delivery practices, tooling, and templates.
Agile Standards & Team Health
Establish and maintain Definition of Ready (DoR) and Definition of Done (DoD)
- Use orglevel DoR and DoD standards to cocreate teamlevel versions.
- Socialize, inspect, and periodically reevaluate DoR/DoD with the team.
- Listen for adherence in daytoday conversations and adjust with the team as needed.
Coach and support team health and collaboration
- Coach the team on Agile values and Scrum/Kanban practices, focusing on consistent, disciplined execution.
- Support conflict resolution, remove friction in daytoday delivery, and foster a hightrust, highmorale culture focused on outcomes and quality.
Maintain strong domain and feature awareness
- Maintain a solid understanding of inflight work, what’s coming next, and the underlying business and customer “why.”
- Use that context to anticipate issues, support better decision making, and communicate timelines credibly.
- 5+ years of experience as a Delivery Manager, Scrum Master, Agile Delivery Lead, or similar role.
- Strong familiarity with the software development lifecycle (SDLC) and Agile frameworks (Scrum, Kanban).
- Handson experience working with crossfunctional teams (Product, Engineering, Design, QA, etc.).
- Deep experience using Jira and Confluence for work tracking, reporting, and delivery management.
- Demonstrated ability to:
- Drive predictable delivery through effective Agile practices.
- Use metrics to forecast, manage expectations, and improve team performance.
- Manage risks, dependencies, and blockers in complex environments.
- Orchestrate releases, including feature flags, bug triage, and coordination across teams.
- Strong facilitation, coaching, communication, and conflict resolution skills.
- Excellent stakeholder management abilities, with a track record of clear, proactive communication to both technical and nontechnical audiences.
- Experience helping teams establish and maintain Definition of Ready and Definition of Done is a plus.
