Brooksource is seeking a detail-oriented and analytical Mid-Level Facets Business Analyst to support a major Blue Cross Blue Shield client. The role involves acting as a bridge between business stakeholders and technical teams, translating complex business needs into actionable requirements, and ensuring project success without hands-on system access.
Responsibilities:
- Requirements Elicitation: Lead and facilitate requirements gathering sessions with business stakeholders, product owners, and subject matter experts to define needs for new projects, system enhancements, and operational changes
- Analysis & Documentation: Analyze business processes and user needs to document detailed functional requirements, user stories, use cases, and process flows using industry-standard methodologies (e.g., Agile, Waterfall)
- Facets-Centric Gap Analysis: Evaluate business requests against the existing capabilities of the Facets platform. Clearly identify gaps between business needs and system functionality, proposing viable solutions or workarounds
- System Configuration Translation: Articulate how business rules and requirements translate into Facets configurations, referencing specific tables, benefit plans, and system parameters to guide development and testing efforts
- Developer Support: Collaborate closely with the development team by providing clear, unambiguous requirements, answering clarifying questions, and reviewing technical design documents to ensure alignment with business intent
- Stakeholder Communication: Serve as the primary point of contact for business stakeholders throughout the project lifecycle, providing regular updates on progress, risks, and issues
- Validation & Testing: Develop and execute test scenarios and support User Acceptance Testing (UAT) to verify that the developed solution meets all documented business requirements and functions correctly within the Facets ecosystem
Requirements:
- Education: Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Information Systems, Healthcare Management, or a related field
- Experience: 4-7 years of experience as a Business Analyst in the healthcare insurance industry, with a preference for experience working with or for Blue Cross Blue Shield plans
- Facets Platform Knowledge: Demonstrated, extensive experience with the Facets platform. Candidate must possess a strong conceptual understanding of how the following core areas are configured and managed within Facets: Member demographic data management, Member eligibility and enrollment logic, Product and benefit plan configuration, Claims processing, including eligibility-based adjudication and denial logic, Benefits, balances, and service limits, Prior authorization workflows and rules
- Analytical Skills: Proven ability to perform complex gap analysis, process modeling, and data analysis to support business decisions
- Communication: Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to convey technical concepts to non-technical audiences and business requirements to technical teams
- Documentation: Strong proficiency in creating clear, comprehensive business documentation, including functional specifications, user stories, and workflow diagrams
- Experience working in an Agile/Scrum development environment
- Familiarity with standard BA tools such as JIRA, Confluence, Visio, or similar platforms
- Certification in Business Analysis (e.g., CBAP, CCBA) is a plus
- Direct experience working on projects for a BCBS licensee or plan
