About the GMNS Product Team

The GMNS Product team is at the heart of American Express. Each year, we power billions of transactions through our global payments network, serving our Issuing & Acquiring partners in more than 170 markets worldwide. We grow revenue by driving strategic, multi-year initiatives to deliver differentiated value to our merchants, partners, and customers. 

The Partner & Product Enablement (PPE) team within GMNS Product act as the custodians of the American Express Network, assuring all customers that are connected to it and all products & capabilities that sit upon comply with our American Express standards. PPE operationalizes the end-to-end lifecycle of all customers and products— from setup through deployment – placing them at the forefront of enabling innovative new products with our customers and growing American Express’ welcomed acceptance globally.

About the Role

The Director of Global Connectivity is a newly created leadership role responsible for overseeing and executing all connectivity activities across GMNS. This role is central to ensuring customers can successfully connect to and transact on the American Express Network by providing focused oversight of connectivity as a standalone capability. As part of this role, the new Director will serve as the central business contact to drive the creation of a defined strategy to lead the connectivity business and team into the future. 

Key Responsibilities

• Lead a team of connectivity colleagues in the US, Brazil, UK, Singapore and India, with specializations in all areas of connectivity.
• Provide continuous oversight and execution of all connectivity activities across both Network and Acquirer businesses. 
• Design and execute a cross‑training curriculum to enable connectivity colleagues to support both Network and Acquirer connectivity projects. 
• Oversee a portfolio of special projects aimed at improving customer experience in the connectivity space. 
• Lead the transition and integration of existing GNS Connectivity and GMS Connectivity teams into the new Global Connectivity team model. 
• Build strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders while representing PPE in a professional manner. 
• Partner with key relevant stakeholders (e.g. Partner Enablement, Operational Excellence, Technology, Production Support) to solution challenges and guide team through appropriate Amex reviews & approvals.
• Provide thought leadership on future of connectivity setups to optimize speed to market and mitigation of risk for future projects.
   

Qualifications

• Proven people leader with demonstrated ability to develop people and create highly effective and results-driven culture across multiple locations.
• Demonstrated ability to build effective relationships with stakeholders across multiple business units. 
• Exceptional project management skills, with the ability to manage multiple initiatives simultaneously and effectively prioritize work. 
• Strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to translate technical concepts for non‑technical partners. 
• Proven customer service mindset with the ability to manage escalations and maintain attention to detail. 
• Familiarity with Agile frameworks and strong problem‑solving capabilities. 
• Knowledge of payments industry connectivity, including IPs, file transfers, and authorization and submission processing, is a plus. 
• Familiarity with payment platforms, message and file formats, and emerging payment technologies preferred. 

Salary Range: $144,250.00 to $256,250.00 annually + bonus + equity (if applicable) + benefits
