The Principal Product Marketing Manager will focus on defining how 1Password supports developers and DevOps teams, translating complex technical concepts into clear narratives and driving product marketing for developer solutions.
Responsibilities:
- Lead Product Marketing for 1Password Developer solutions
- Own product marketing for 1Password’s solutions supporting developers, DevOps/DevSecOps, and teams building internal tools or automated agents
- Explain how developers—from senior engineers to non-traditional builders—use 1Password to securely build, deploy, and operate applications and automation
- Articulate how 1Password secures identities, secrets, services, and machine-to-system access across modern software delivery
- Position capabilities such as secrets management, service identity, agent provisioning, and infrastructure integrations as foundational to secure development
- Build demos, sample apps, and open-source modules that showcase 1Password developer workflows
- Partner with Product to understand use cases across DevOps, platform engineering, automation, and modern application development
- Drive Cross-Functional Strategy
- Work with Product and Engineering to bring new features to market with strong, differentiated value for technical audiences
- Build go-to-market plans that resonate with developers, DevOps/DevSecOps teams and technical decision-makers
- Support Sales, Customer Success, and Enablement by connecting technical capabilities (e.g. identity, secrets, automation controls) to clear customer outcomes
- Craft Clear and Credible Narratives
- Translate complex topics such as secrets management, machine identity, privileged access, automation governance, and agent-driven workflows into simple, compelling messaging
- Shape thought leadership around the two major customer challenges: Discovering and securing developer-driven or shadow automation projects, including new agents and internal tools
- Enabling every developer to become a secure developer, regardless of experience level or tooling
- Represent 1Password’s perspective on secure development, automation, and emerging engineering practices while maintaining trust, safety, and usability
- Support Platform & Ecosystem Storytelling
- Position APIs, SDKs, integrations, and ecosystem partnerships as essential components of a secure development and automation platform
- Ensure our capabilities map to real developers, DevOps, and similar use cases
- Contribute to the broader platform narrative as organizations expand automation, service-to-service interactions, and internal development
- Be a Strategic Voice Internally & Externally
- Participate in developer communities, technical forums, and industry events to grow 1Password’s presence in the developer ecosystem
- Engage in analyst briefings, customer discussions, partner conversations, and events related to development security, automation, and emerging engineering practices
- Provide insight into how engineering, platform, and security teams adapt their workflows as internal development, automation, and agent-driven processes accelerate
Requirements:
- 8+ years of B2B SaaS product marketing experience, with 5+ years in developer tools, DevOps/DevSecOps, platform engineering, identity, or security categories
- Experience engaging with developer communities or contributing to developer evangelism programs
- Hands-on experience with developer-facing technologies (SDKs, APIs, CLIs, cloud-native tooling, open-source tools)
- Strong track record marketing technically deep products, including: identity and access management, secrets management, machine/service identity, CI/CD and automation tooling, cloud-native application architectures, DevOps/DevSecOps practices
- Deep understanding of modern development workflows and how developers and platform teams adopt tools
- Background in creating thought leadership for new or rapidly evolving technical spaces
- Ability to turn emerging technical trends into opinionated product positioning
- Proven success launching complex, fast-evolving technical products
- Comfort navigating ambiguity and shaping category narratives
- Strong ability to synthesize insights across product, engineering, security, and customer teams
- Exceptional storytelling skills for both technical practitioners and executive audiences
- Confidence representing 1Password in cross-functional settings, analyst briefings, customer conversations, and industry events
- Ability to act as a credible, trusted voice within developer, DevOps and DevSecOps communities
