Nidec Conversion is seeking a Field Services Engineer to provide on-site services and remote technical support for Crane Control Systems. The role involves installation, commissioning, troubleshooting, repairs, and preventative maintenance for various customers across North America and the Caribbean.
Responsibilities:
- Perform Installation, Commissioning, Troubleshooting, Repairs, and Predictive/Preventative Maintenance of AC and DC power conversion products, motor control products, and automation assemblies
- Work with a variety of PLC brands such as Rockwell, Emerson, Schneider, and Siemens
- Work with a variety of AC/DC power conversion brands such Nidec, Avtron, Control Techniques, and Danfoss
- Work with a variety of HMI software including Factory Talk, Proficy View, Wonderware, and Vijeo Designer
- Work with motors, drives, power distribution equipment and automation software and products
- Configure, Commission and Troubleshoot industrial communication networks such as Modbus TCP/IP, Profinet, Ethernet IP, etc
- Provide hands-on, on-site training to customers
- Work closely with in-house Crane Systems project engineers on system design and testing
- Display professionalism, proactively interface, and effectively communicate with the customer to build and maintain a high level of customer satisfaction
- Provide telephone, email, and emergency field service for customers on an as needed basis
- Participate in supporting service sales activities such as proposing added services and additional upgrades
Requirements:
- Two-year associate degree in electrical engineering, Electronic Technology, Military Technical Training Program, or more than five years of directly related job experience
- Must be able to work at heights, climb ladders and stairs, and be comfortable working indoors or out
- Must be a US Citizen, possess a valid driver's license, be able to pass a drug screening, and pass a federal background check for access to ports and government facilities
- Minimum of five (5) years prior experience in industrial automation & motor control systems with direct experience in Ship to Shore, Portal, or Shipyard crane applications preferred
- Thorough knowledge of analog and digital circuits, configuration of AC/DC drives, AC/DC Motor Theory, PLC's, and HMI's
- Experience using electronic test equipment such as Data Recorders, DMM's, Clamp-on ammeters, Megohmmeters, and Oscilloscopes
- Experience in troubleshooting power electronics circuitry desirable
- Experience with Nidec low voltage drives including AD3000 & AD5000, Accel500, Unidrive M, Answer Drives DC, ADDVANTAGE-32, and Mentor MP is desirable but not required
- Experience traveling and working independently to resolve technical and manufacturing issues without detailed direction or documentation and work as part of a team when required
- Ability to work within deadlines and demonstrate time management skills
- Ability to use hand and/or power tools
- Ability to read technical manuals and Electrical Drawings/Schematics
- Competency in Microsoft Office software applications
