SBA Fintech LLP is seeking a Vice President of R&D Project Management who will be responsible for the overall planning and implementation of the company's R&D project management system. This role will coordinate cross-departmental resources to ensure that R&D projects are delivered with high quality, on time, and within budget.
Responsibilities:
- Formulate the company's R&D project management strategy to support overall business and technology development objectives
- Establish and optimize the R&D project management system (e.g., Stage-Gate, Agile Development, etc.)
- Drive the standardization, process optimization, and digital transformation of project management practices
- Establish a Project Portfolio Management mechanism to optimize resource allocation
- Oversee the full lifecycle management of multiple R&D projects (Initiation, Planning, Execution, and Delivery)
- Monitor project progress, costs, quality, and risks to ensure the achievement of key milestones
- Lead the advancement and decision-making processes for major projects (e.g., new product development, technology platform upgrades, etc.)
- Establish a project review mechanism (Gate Review) to enhance project success rates
- Coordinate resources across various departments, including R&D, Product, Marketing, Supply Chain, and Manufacturing
- Optimize R&D resource allocation (personnel, budget, equipment, etc.) to improve the return on investment (ROI)
- Facilitate collaboration among global or cross-regional R&D teams (where applicable)
- Establish mechanisms for identifying and responding to risks within R&D projects
- Ensure that projects comply with industry regulations and quality system requirements (e.g., ISO, GxP, etc.)
- Lead risk assessments and contingency management for critical projects
- Build and lead a high-performance R&D Project Management Office (PMO) team
- Promote capability development among Project Managers (e.g., PMP certification, Agile certifications, etc.)
- Establish a performance evaluation system to continuously enhance the team's execution capabilities
- Establish a KPI framework for R&D projects (covering cycle time, cost, success rate, ROI, etc.)
- Leverage data analytics to continuously optimize R&D efficiency and project success rates
- Report project progress and strategic recommendations to the senior management team
Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree or higher; a major in a STEM field (Engineering, Computer Science, Biomedicine, etc.) or a management-related discipline is preferred
- 20+ years of experience in R&D or project management, including at least 5 years in a senior management role
- Experience in the R&D of complex products (e.g., hardware, software, pharmaceuticals, industrial equipment, etc.)
- Experience in managing large-scale projects or project portfolios (at the Portfolio level)
- Proficiency in R&D project management methodologies (e.g., PMP, Agile, Stage-Gate)
- Familiarity with R&D processes and the Product Lifecycle Management (PLM) framework
- Strong capabilities in cross-functional coordination and resource integration
- Excellent data analysis and decision-making skills
- Outstanding strategic thinking and execution capabilities
- Excellent communication and influencing skills, with the ability to drive complex organizational change
- High resilience to pressure; adaptable to fast-paced, high-uncertainty environments
- An MBA or a relevant advanced management degree is preferred
