How can you make a difference? 

1. Social media and website management

• ldeating, crafting, and publishing social media copy and content across UNICEF's social media platforms.
• Managing, writing, and curating content for UNICEF Malaysia's official website housed on Drupal CMS.
• Updating the UNICEF Malaysia website by uploading content, designing new landing pages and advising on the best way to present information on the website.
• Responding to comments, private messages, and emails that come in on social media and the web kl email handle.
• Advising the team and wider office on social media/ digital content best practices and trends to increase UNICEF's visibility and brand recognition in Malaysia
• Assisting in mentoring social media interns, freelancers and volunteers for digital communications as and when required.

2. Social media and website data collection and preliminary analysis

• Regular gathering of social media analytics both manually and automated from online social listening platforms to inform planning and strategy.
• Researching and keeping abreast of changes in the social media/digital landscape to ensure our content is optimized for each platform as needed.
• Providing monthly updates to the digital team and Chief of Communication on social media & website content performance, and follower growth.
• Supporting Communication Officer NO-2 and Communication Specialist in using data to drive content and platform strategy.

3. Digital content ideation and creation

• Brainstorming and ideating new ways to communicate advocacy messages to our various audiences via digital platforms.
• Writing and editing human interest stories, press releases, talking points, articles, scripts and other written materials.
• Assisting in producing and designing content for social media such as factographs, infographs, and other materials that require simple design on Canva.
• Creating simple video content such as soundbites, event shorts, social media stories and reels.
• Assisting with management of videographers and agencies working on video and social media content together with the rest of the Communication Section team.
• Adapting multimedia assets from HQ Division of Communication, Regional Office, or other UNICEF offices for a local audience.

4. Digital content support and advisory

• Championing the integrity of UNICEF's public facing digital platforms by ensuring all content published is fit for purpose, audience centric, and appropriately tailored for each platform for maximum efficiency.
• Providing social media support to office initiatives and campaigns be it communication, programme or fundraising led as and when required.
• Assisting Communication Section team members in events, launches, campaigns, and other key communication activities from a digital content perspective.
• Assisting in providing digital content expertise to various office initiatives as needed.

To qualify as an advocate for every child you will have…

Minimum requirements:

• Education: A university degree in communications, Journalism, Public Relations, Social Sciences, Digital Marketing or similar.
• Work Experience: A minimum of one year of professional experience relevant to communication, social media, or digital content, at the national level is required.
• Experience in the development and implementation of digital communication and content strategy is required.
• Proficiency in using computer applications (Microsoft Office Suite, email/internet, other IT applications), including design software and applications such as Canva, Adobe Creative Suite, and social media content creation tools (lnstagram, Facebook) is required.
• Knowledge in Google Analytics, native social media analytics is required.
• Language Requirements: Fluency in English and Bahasa Malaysia is required. Knowledge of another official UN language (Arabic, Chinese, French, Russian or Spanish) or a local language is an asset.

Desirables:

• Relevant experience at country level, particularly in development, fragile settings and humanitarian contexts.
