Mayo Clinic is a renowned healthcare organization, and they are seeking an IT Senior Cloud Engineer to lead product operations for their cloud platforms. This role focuses on operational execution, cross-team coordination, and ensuring the effective delivery of cloud solutions within the organization.
Responsibilities:
- Serve as the Product Operations Lead for Mayo Clinic’s Cloud Platforms, partnering closely with the Principal Product Manager for Cloud Services to ensure strategy, priorities, and leadership direction result in consistent, predictable execution across the cloud product portfolio
- Accountable for the operational execution model of Cloud Services - not product ownership
- Enable delivery by establishing operating cadence, coordinating across product, engineering, architecture, operations, security, and finance teams, and maintaining leadership-ready product artifacts
- Focus on execution rigor, transparency, and follow-through within Mayo’s Cloud Product Operating Model
- Own execution mechanics, operational discipline, and cross-team coordination, ensuring decisions translate into clear plans, tracked commitments, and measurable outcomes
- Ensure that enterprise cloud solutions are optimized for cost and functionality and is responsible for execution of the cloud/infrastructure strategy set by architects
- Develop internal and external compatibility of the system and subsystems
- Develop highly complex scripts using a tool or combination of tools to automate a task or a series of tasks
- Develop, comply, and may oversee team compliance with SLAs or OLAs
- Document new or modified solutions, installation instructions and other system-related information
- Write configuration for cloud platforms leveraging appropriate tools
- Collaborate with developers and is responsible for the 'Ops' part of DevOps
- Develop and may maintain tools and frameworks that other teams use to smoothly develop their applications
- Use technology to implement automation and orchestration
- Lead the implementation and integration of cloud solutions and technologies across business and IT functions, products, and platforms
- Proactively seek new ways to integrate cloud solutions with existing enterprise tools and systems
- Responsible for compliance of cloud solutions to architectural standards
- Lead evaluations of enterprise cloud technology standards, tools, products, and solutions to identify opportunities for improvement
- Partner with security staff to ensure Cloud solutions support maintenance of a secure technology environment
- Responsible for planning and validating the installation, configuration, and maintenance of Cloud solutions
- Implement governance for role-based access control (RBAC), cost containment and cloud provider account management
- Develop time and cost estimates for cloud solutions
- Create and determine Cloud systems specifications, input/output processes and working parameters for hardware/software compatibility
- Evaluate technical requirements to determine the impact of Cloud technologies on the infrastructure including equipment redundancy and capacity requirements
- Create the physical design for cloud-based solutions for infrastructure and platforms
Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree with 5 years' demonstrated technical experience and 1 year of demonstrated leadership experience, or Associate's degree with 7 years' experience and 1 year of demonstrated leadership experience, or HS/GED with 9 years of experience and 1 years' of demonstrated leadership experience in a large, complex organization like Mayo Clinic may be considered in lieu of the degree
- Demonstrated ability to work across multiple environments including cloud and on-premise, and multiple operating systems
- Functional understanding of cloud ecosystem and leading-edge cloud emerging technologies
- Working knowledge of the practical application of engineering and technology including applying principles, techniques, procedures, hardware and tools to the design and production of various products and services
- Working knowledge of data center design best practices
- Knowledge of and ability to apply DevOps principles and ways of working
- Ability to develop and deliver requirements, concepts of operations, use cases, demonstrations, and presentations to both one-to-one and in small groups
- Knowledge of approaches, tools, and techniques for anticipating, recognizing, managing, and resolving technical (hardware, software, application, or operational) problems
- Ability to effectively communicate with and present to senior management and executive stakeholders (e.g., IT Leadership)
- Certification in cloud engineering is required
