Senior Product Manager, Asset Management

Principal Financial Group is a leading firm in financial services, and they are seeking a Senior Product Manager within Principal Asset Management. This role involves driving initiatives for the Multi-Asset Investment team, managing complex products that support portfolio management, trading, and investment research while collaborating with various stakeholders.

Responsibilities:

• Define and communicate a clear product vision, strategy, and roadmap for in‑house and vendor solutions supporting multi‑asset portfolio management, trading, and research capabilities
• Partner closely with engineering, architecture, and business stakeholders to deliver solutions aligned to investment operations, portfolio management workflows, and strategic business outcomes
• Use metrics, analytics, and customer insights to guide decisions, monitor product health, and find opportunities for innovation, improvement, and modernization
• Communicate product updates, timelines, risks, and dependencies to internal partners and senior leaders
• Act as a senior product leader and mentor, helping support team growth during a period of operational and organizational transformation

Requirements:

• 6+ years of business, technology, or product management experience; or equivalent demonstrated through the following: work experience, military experience, or education
• 3+ years working in a highly collaborative, fast-paced environment with engineering teams and partners while managing multiple products
• Strong experience with modern product management practices, including discovery, product strategy and delivery against product outcomes
• Proven ability to lead, influence, and negotiate with partners at all levels of the organization
• Strong strategic thinking, decision‑making, and relationship‑building skills, with a focus on driving outcomes
• Proven experience using diverse perspectives, data, and insights to inform product decisions
• Experience mentoring or coaching others in a professional setting
• Comfortable navigating ambiguity and change, particularly within evolving operating models
• Product management experience within asset management, investment management, or investment operations
• Knowledge of multi‑asset investment strategies, portfolio management systems, trading workflows, and investment research platforms
• Experience working with portfolio and order management systems (e.g., Bloomberg, Charles River)
• Global product or global operating model experience
